Re: Considering iOS for Scriv. How do YOU use it?

I doubt I'd do serious writing with an iPad (I have a Macbook for that), but I might want to use it to do some plotting, scene creation, note taking etc. It sounds like you have a similar reasoning to how I intended to use the iOS version. I did try to use iOS on my iPhone, for occasional reading, ...

Re: Revision Mode on iOS?

there is no way to "lock" a style, such that you can drop a cursor into something that's styled differently Yes, that is what I meant--I didn't think it was possible, but just thought I'd make sure! :) As for overriding styles in the compiler, what has to happen there is that you need to ...

Re: Revision Mode on iOS?

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. I guess the only downside then is having to select the particular 'revision' style for every correction when using iOS? I'm getting used to doing this routine, but--just to be sure--am I correct in thinking that there is no way to 'lock' the editor to a ...

Re: Revision Mode on iOS?

Here's how I simulated revisions in iOS recently: I've had a quick go now, and it does seem much easier to implement the changes with styles as you suggested - thanks! :) I can't see any real downside to working this way, other than the colours aren't part of the 'proper' revision mode--I'm hoping ...

Re: Revision Mode on iOS?

Here's how I simulated revisions in iOS recently: Thanks very much for the suggestion, I'll give that a go and see if it feels easier than just changing the text colour. At first I was put off by the idea of using styles, because I recently found I had been unable to override them in the compiler. ...

Re: Revision Mode on iOS?

Hi, At present, I'm trying to replicate the revision mode colours on iOS by just colouring text edit changes. But this means that every single time I want to make an edit I have to go into the text formatting options and change the colour manually - is there a better way of doing this? Does anyone k...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

What you are referring to as the "formatting controls/bottom menu bar" is actually called the Keyboard Row. Hi Jimrac, thanks for your post - I hadn't realised the correct name, which didn't really help my attempt at clarification! But when you say, "formatting controls (Keyboa...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

Hi, I found my way to this forum thread after I bought the Scrivener iOS app for my ancient iphone 4s. I thought it would be great to be able to read through my Scrivener projects on the phone (I work on a Macbook Air), and do the odd bit of simple editing. The first thing that I looked for was how ...

Re: Scrivener + Scapple ... writing and mapping on the same application

I'm just dipping my toe into the depths of Scrivener and Scapple, so I am finding features in both programs that are bringing them closer together. The Project Bookmark feature that shows a preview of a Scapple board is great for linking out of Scrivener, while being able to link from Scapple to ind...

'Zoom To Fit' doesn't zoom out enough for larger boards.

Hi, I just had a minor niggle as my Scapple boards have been growing larger, and I noticed that the View-->Zoom To Fit command has a limited zoom out, so once boards grow beyond a certain size the command doesn't display the board it in its entirety. The z command still shows the entire board, but t...

Re: Is there a way to change html link text colour on dark backgrounds?

There are a bunch of link behaviour settings in the Behaviors: Document Links preference pane.

Ah, that's great - I hadn't realised about that.

I'll have to have a think about changing the link preference to QR. I don't use many other links, so that could work really well. :)

Thanks again,
Ian

Re: Is there a way to change html link text colour on dark backgrounds?

If you want a safe way to reference things, you can add “&view=qr” to the end of the URL, to cause the link to load as a Quick Reference panel. Yes, that's perfect for what I want: I am able to keep the editors locked and bring up research from Scapple. Perfect - thanks! :) I don't know why, bu...

Re: Is there a way to change html link text colour on dark backgrounds?

I think I've worked out the logic behind it now. If I understand correctly: when I click on the link to a Scrivener text document from Scapple, it opens that document in a new editor, or the inactive editor if there are two. The confusion I was having was when one editor was Locked in Place (as you ...

Re: Is there a way to change html link text colour on dark backgrounds?

Wow, great timing! Lovely to see Scapple in Dark mode - it makes a huge difference! :) Select the item in Scrivener, and use the Edit ▸ Copy ▸ Copy Document as External Link menu command. That's fantastic to hear about linking to Scrivener items - I'm constantly surprised by the program's hidden dep...

Re: Is there a way to change html link text colour on dark backgrounds?

Thanks for your reply, and great to hear that you're looking into it. :) Since the addition of a Dark mode for Scrivener I have found myself using the program even more (I have always struggled with bright screens), and being able to work on a dark background in Scapple makes the two programs sit we...
