Re: Finding elements after Scriv3 project conversion.

I understand that there is rush for support on the Windows Scrivener v3 -- Congratulations  However, it has been a couple of weeks since I asked this upgrade question; I've yet gotten any guidance. Having gone through the project conversion twice with the same result -- lost Collections...

Finding elements after Scriv3 project conversion.

After I converted a Win Scriv1 project to Win Scriv3 format, where are my collections and keywords hiding? (For the collections, the Collections menu in the sidebar is empty; for the keywords, the Keywords popup is empty.) Win 10 x64 [19042]; i7 7700, 32GB, 2T. Scrivener 3.01. [Conversion lost colle...

Re: Mostly for SEARCH efficiency

Thank you Katherine. What exactly is my ultimate goal? Serendipity. Searching for Augustinus' writings, I'd like to discover unsuspected secular considerations of jus bellum and national traitors; searching for Grotius on international law, encounter the foundations of common law, the Roman ius gent...

Re: Mostly for SEARCH efficiency

Thank you kewms -- My very slow response here is mostly due my awaiting the Win 3.x Scrivener. I promise this is my last post (to you-ish) on this. Will/is the indexing and/or lookup more efficient in broad brush strokes were the text in one large document or in my case, say, 20,000? (I do un...

Mostly for SEARCH efficiency

1) It seems that from another post, larger files are more quickly handled than smaller? (The file open/close operations are mostly an issue for indexing, not actual searching?) 2) Does the depth of severally-branched branches from the trunk of the tree (thrice or more) have a relatively negative imp...

Re: Mouse back-click in a document for 'History' backstep

Thx Ioa,

I'll look into that; I knew the functionality was there with my Logitech, but having not used it, it hadn't clicked.
(Yes, as on web pages.)

Export changes Comment font and color

What am I missing? I changed in Options the font family for my sidebar Comments (to Baskerville); the Scrivener document involved exported to a docx with the Comment font as expected. I then changed the individual background color (to yellow) and font family (Arial/12) of a Comment, but it still exp...

Re: Path of exported file too long to be deleted

Ma ... Thank you for your reply. :D It occurred to me not long after I SUBMITted my post -- esprit d'escalier -- between that and your replying ... The backup software I use (Syncback) has the ability to MIRROR the contents of one folder/drive/whatever to another. (By 'mirror', it means obliterate w...

Path of exported file too long to be deleted

When I use File>Export>Files... 'd the combination of folders/documents and their sub-documents produced some (relatively) few stranded documents, their paths too large (+260 bytes) to be copied, moved, backed up. After the usual treatments -- shortening parent directory/folder names; deleting the d...

About v 1.9.8 Kudos, but ...

Version 1.9.8 seems to have 'fixed' all varieties of my shutdowns, ie, crashes. Did it all really boil down to some mysterious font, and to document move difficulties? However, there are two things seemingly related to the issues addressed by update ... - When I try to move a document via men...

Re: Importing a project -- derivative addendum

Ever since my first Scrivener (Windows), 1.9.5., from 2016/05/09, I've endured the crashes that I've variously reported: Spontaneous, multiple projects, document moves, Even after multiple uninstalls/installs. :D Version 1.9.8 seems to have 'fixed' all varieties of my shutdowns, ie, crashes. :D Yup, even if Scriv/And version 0.# is little more than a scratchpad dropping the documents into a designated project's folder.

Re: Importing a project didn't bring everything across

I take it then that importing a project does not include its Collections? (Perhaps not if there are '37' of them and/or some thousands of links?) Was the loss of 76 files and 28 MBs to be expected? Or were the lost files and MBs related to the lost Collections? (Perhaps their loss was caused by the ...

Importing a project didn't bring everything across

Scrivener still occasionally shuts down (requiring a ~ 25 minute reindexing? on restart), even sometimes when I'm not using the PC. (On a new PC with plenty of space and speed, and with the usual, "Windows remains stable as do any other open apps".) But more disappointedly, my troublesome ...
