Re: General Issues with Styles

And having a *no style* is a crazy choice....because *everything* is styled as something in a document, (meaning it has an appearance), whether the writer was conscious of using styles or not. Everything has an appearance, but not everything has (or needs) an assigned Style. That's the entire point...

Re: Omnioutliner: Not sure what I did.

Have you tried exporting from Outliner to OPML? I haven’t used outliner for a long time but I think it can export OPML, which Scrivener can import. Mark I've never tried that. Until now. The current version of Omni Outliner does export to OPML and it imports into Scrivener in semi usable form. I ju...

Re: Syncing with External Folder: Stuck

See: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=64122 I had the same problem and sent in the error report. I traced it to a particular chapter in the story - the one it stopped on. You'll need to study it a little to figure out where the problem is. Anyway, I copied the text of...

Re: Error exiting project with external folder sync. Had to Force Quit.

I did some experimentation and the issue is isolated to one project.

I'll do some more experimenting to see if I can isolate it to a particular chapter or folder. It's probably just corruption in the file.

Error exiting project with external folder sync. Had to Force Quit.

I apologize if this has already been covered. I tried several searches and didn't get a hit. This is the text of the message I sent in with the error report: "Scrivener experienced an unexpected error while I was using it. Here is what I was doing when the error occured: I clicked on “Close Pro...

Re: Compile not working in 3.2

Ah, I found something that looks promising, it may have to do with having set a global font override in the past (if you created your test project from a template, it may have had that set as well). You could try this: ⋅  In Finder, right-click on the test project that you created, and se...

Re: How to change default paragraph indentation?

I do not want an indentation for the first line of paragraphs. I have changed this in BOTH the overall preferences and the project preferences yet it is still doing this BS. I tried starting new documents within my project, then an entirely new project. Still no change. There are several ways to do...

Re: why there are characters missing when I transform my Scrivener-files from Windows to Mac?

I went to an old project, selected the top level "Manuscript" heading which displayed all the text in scrivenings mode. Then selected all the text using Command+a and selected a different font, which promptly converted all the text to that new font. It would mean opening every project, but...

Re: Should I upgrade to Big Sur now, or wait?

I have an iMac and an MacBook Pro. I upgraded the iMac early this morning. I used it until an hour ago trying all the apps including scrivener. I tried everything I do with Scrivener, which certainly isn't an in-depth test of it's features many of which I never use, except Dark Mode and it worked fi...

Re: Scrivener 3, Scrivener for iPad, and changes at apple.

Hope nobody is in a rush. I tried to download it and it says, "About 2 days remaining." The download site is slammed beyond belief. I'm not really surprised. It looks like everybody and their neighbor-in-law is trying to download it.

Re: Apple Silicon/ARM and Scrivener and a new Mac

FWIW, I generally wait to update Mac OS until at least the X.1 release. I'm happy to let other people work out the bugs -- often quite a lot of them -- in the initial release. Even if you're more aggressive than that, I would definitely wait until Scrivener and any other applications that are criti...

So how do we do this? A simultaneous download of Big Sur and the Scrivener new release?

Re: Apple Silicon/ARM and Scrivener and a new Mac

Now we know:

The wait is short. Big Sur will be released tomorrow. I don't plan to upgrade my Macs until I read from folks here that Scrivener works on Intel chips running Big Sur .

The cost is the same as the Intel based Macs with claimed major performance increases.

Re: How can i have page numbers before i compile?

I wonder if it would be possible to put in a link (where the referenced page number should appear) that would be dynamic and compile with the page reference current? I haven't used WORD for editing more than a chapter for a long time, but I think it had/has a feature like that. It would permit the a...
