Re: Closing a project doesn't release it on DropBox unless I also quit Scrivener.

Dropbox should be configured so that all Scrivener projects are stored locally, as well as on the remote server. If it's not, then yes, that would cause problems. Probably not this specific problem, though. Rather, you'd be more likely to see "blank" files in the Binder that reappear once...

Re: Closing a project doesn't release it on DropBox unless I also quit Scrivener.

Thanks for the suggestions. Both of you make a good point. I store all the DropBox on the iMac and synch to it on the DropBox site. Only the Scrivener associated folders on DropBox are on the MBP because it only has a 256Gb SSD. I'll try it leaving time for the synch to take place and see what happe...

Closing a project doesn't release it on DropBox unless I also quit Scrivener.

I use DropBox to store and synch my WIP. I've noticed, even in V 2, simply closing the project on my MBP doesn't release it to load on my iMac unless I also quit Scrivener on my MBP. The reverse is also true: closing a project on my iMac doesn't release it to load on my MBP unless I quit Scrivener o...

Re: Typing Lag

I'm not an expert by any means, but what version of MacOS are you running and how much RAM do you have?

Also, do you have any other programs running in the background that might be dragging down the processor?

I've never experienced a typing lag of minutes on any machine.

Re: Why do you use or want a Mac?

Good news, Pigfender: Apple has reversed course on the keyboards. The latest Macbook Pro (the 16") has gone back to a scissors keyboard, abandoning the butterfly. With any luck, this outbreak of sanity amongst Mac designers will trickle down as the smaller Macbook Pro and the Macbook Air are u...

Re: Why do you use or want a Mac?

In my case, I went from Windows, after using MS operating systems since creating autoexec.bat files with edlin in DOS 2.0, to MacOS in 2014 when Windows was a mess, support for XP was going to vanish, and every glitchy upgrade made my computer run slower. Windows 7 worked well enough, Windows 8 was ...

Scrolling issue.

In outline mode, scrivener frequently won't scroll the last few lines to the bottom of the text. I can use the slider in the right margin to get to it, or the down arrow, but scrolling with the mouse (iMac), or touch pad (MBP) doesn't get to the bottom. I frequently have a screen and a half or more ...

There vs their.

I see the words there and their underlined in red a lot. Almost every time they are in something I'm writing. If I hover over the underlined word it suggests using the other one, and it's just plain wrong 99.9% of the time. Is this an underlying Apple thing? I'm just curious. I can live with it, tho...

Re: A Note About Upgrading to macOS Catalina

Just to see what would happen, I tried the applicable data retrieval link. It said I had no order history, though I’ve purchased Scrivener 1 for Windows, Scrivener 2 and 3 for Mac. Did you use the bottom entry field? I did. It said I had no order history, or something like that, when I tried about ...

I have a pdf file of my license data, so I'm covered, but I thought you should know, the link for data retrieval did no...

Re: Writing a series on Scrivener

FWIW: I created a Book 1 top folder to archive the finished book of my 5 book series, then command selected the three acts and moved the finished book from Manuscript to be under the Book 1 archive folder. After that I made new Act folders and began outlining Book 2 under the Manuscript folder. All ...

Re: Back asswards composition

You can have Composition mode and the main window open on different screens - you just need to change the Preferences a little: 1. Go to Scrivener > Preferences... to open up the preferences. 2. Click on "Behaviors" in the Preferences panel toolbar. 3. Ensure "Composition Mode" ...

Wow. I had no idea that synch feature was available. Somehow in years of using Scrivener, I missed that functionality. It works really well with DropBox. I haven't tried it with anything else, My writing is straight fiction, no links or references to confuse things. The synch feature will save me te...

Re: LAGGING, UNRESPONSIVNESS, OPTION DRAG

How much free space do you have on the SSD? And how much RAM do you have? Neither Scrivener nor any other program will work directly with the files on the Dropbox server. Everything Scrivener opens has to be located on the local drive. So, if you routinely have five or more desktops open, *and* you...

Re: LAGGING, UNRESPONSIVNESS, OPTION DRAG

FWIW: I have this issue now and then. It will happen with annoying frequency for a while, then just stop and not happen again for weeks or months. I can't relate its appearance to any particular project or configuration. 15" box stock 2015 MBP with 256GB SSD running the most recent version of M...
