Re: "Creating a backup"

I've noticed that whenever I close Scrivener for Windows, I get a little window that says "creating a backup", with a little progress bar that takes maybe 10 seconds to complete. Hi jianada, This is Scrivener's default auto-backup process. Go to File > Options > Backup (icon in the far up...

Re: Scrivener unable to save my project

This is likely due to your Antivirus program, as many other users have found.

As a test, disable your AV. If Scrivener runs normally, whitelist Scrivener in your AV.

Re: I'm running into this strange error on my copy of the new Scrivener

Anyone know what gives? Hi Xamusel, A number of posters have reported errors related to 'can't save file' with Windows v3, although yours is the first I can recall seeing that had to do with the compile process. For many of these posters, the error was due to their overactive, overachieving antivir...

Re: Zoom on Copyholder?

In addition to what Silverdragon said, if your mouse has a scroll wheel, click in any editor (main, quick ref, copyholder). Then hold down Ctrl and use scroll wheel to zoom in or out.

Re: Ways to make scrivener worth it?

I've only opened it twice As Katherine suggested, do the tutorial. That will help you process people's feedback to you here. I see Scrivener as a 'generalist' long form writing tool. What that means is, it's not developed to specialize in any one particular area, and so is used by all sorts of writ...

Re: Future of Scapple

Most programs don’t gave a backup feature and we live with that just fine. Put your own backup process in place. I only use software that has auto-backups, either to a NAS, or automatically to cloud. I write for a living, I will take no risks with my work. Your view is, at best, antiquated. Scriven...

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

Consider this post: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=66323 If the poster has been making zipped backups right along, then recovering the project will be *trivial*, and words lost will be equal to those written since the last backup was made. This is because a zipped b...

I am not a Windows guru - just a normal user. Me too! I never have had to use Windows Safe Mode, nor do I expect to with professional, consumer software. Then you've been fortunate and have led a charmed Windows life. :D Kidding aside, booting in safe mode is just a test to rule out a problem with ...

Yeah, L&L is a relatively tiny company and they encourage the forums as a first line of support. There are quite a few knowledgeable users here who assist others with problem-solving, tech tips, and whatnot. But that link I provided will get you directly to L&L support. The challenge you're ...
