Re: Is it safe to re-install/refresh Scrivener?

The question is: Is it safe to uninstall and re-install Scrivener on my PC-desktop. so that I can start afresh? Yes, but that won't help any of the possible problems you've listed in your post. If you do uninstall/reinstall, be sure to save your customized settings (Tools > Options > Manage > Save ...

Re: Compiling to Word doc

Hi Andrew, Welcome to Scrivener and the boards. :) Yes, Scrivener can do what you want, but I've never done it myself, so cannot provide you with specific instructions. To get this post viewed by the folks who can actually provide you guidance, you may want to PM a moderator and ask them to move it ...

Re: MAYBE BUG -- COPY-CUT Before PASTE Operation

I haven't encountered this, but I'll start paying closer attention. :D Just out of curiosity, I wasn't clear on why you're doing the specific combination of COPY keystrokes before CUT keystrokes. Is it because you're first doing a COPY/PASTE and then following up somewhere else with a CUT/PASTE? Or ...

Re: Lost Work in Mysterious Circumstances

I still don't feel comfortable just turning off Scrivener and trusting that it has saved, though I just learned about the asterisk symbol, which should be useful. Just in case you're not 100% clear on this, Scrivener has auto-save, so you *never* have to worry about saving your live project files t...

Re: Mac & Windows versions compatibility

Hi Pestacorn, Just want to be sure you understand a key point. After you make a copy of your project into DropBox during Step 1, you will have two identically named copies of the project on your Mac. The original one, and the one in your DropBox folder. We've seen this scenario cause difficulty for ...

Hi Misa, just to confirm, when you say that it worked in an older version of Scrivener, did you mean v1.9, or did you mean older version of the Windows Beta?

Bug: Quick Ref window always on top in Composition mode

RC6 RC6 seems to have broken Quick Ref windows ability to not be on top when Composition Mode is invoked. Steps to reproduce Disable Float Window / Disable Float Quick Ref panel Maximize Scrivener main window. Open a doc in maximized Quick Ref panel. Invoke Composition Mode in doc from main window I...

Re: Scrivener doesn't seem to be able to handle large tables very well, anything I can do?

Windows user here. Help > About Scrivener will tell you the version. It's important to note whether you are using the Windows production version 1.9.16 or the Windows v3 beta. I completely agree with the other posters that table handling has been one of Scrivener's weakest areas. Fortunately for me,...

The OP didn't list many details, but perhaps it's the same as this one, which is also new for RC6: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=61913

Re: Is there a plan to include "Separate Scrivenings with single line breaks" to the Windows version too?

I normally have Editor Margins set to 20 points and Scrivenings looks great. When I change Editor Margins to 80 points like you, then I see the same extra vertical spacing in Scrivenings as you do. I can't think of a functional reason for vertical spacing to be added by a Left/Right setting, so I ag...

Re: Is there a plan to include "Separate Scrivenings with single line breaks" to the Windows version too?

You can choose from three different Scrivenings separators in the beta.

I'm not on my Scrivener PC right now, so I can't tell you exactly where in Options the setting is located, but it's there. Be sure to check under Textual Marks, as it might be hidden there.

Jim

Re: Pasting Text Ignores Margins - Release Candidate 5

Yes, paste and match is also my workaround, unless I've got some other formatting going on in the copied text, e.g. underline, italics, highlighting, etc. In that case, I do a normal paste and fix the indent afterwards.

And for me, if I select multiple lines, only the first line's indentation is lost.
Agreed it's a bug. It also doesn't work like this in Windows Scriv 1.9.

Re: Error on automatic backups

This does look like a bug, but when you set the backup folder, did you copy/paste the path into 'Backup Location' or did you use the 'Choose...' button to navigate to the backup folder?

Try setting the backup folder again, using the 'Choose...' button to navigate to it.

Following the OP's instructions, I was able to replicate this error. Screenshot of error attached.
