Re: "Invalid Project" | Scrivener3 and iOS problem

I ran into this same problem and fixed it without adjustments to the inside of the file by following the advice of the one reply about moving it out of the Apps/Scrivener folder. I just made a folder called "writing" on the upper level of my Dropbox space & tossed my project in there....

Re: is there a file for the autocorrect function?

Hi David,

In the first thread I linked to in my prior post, rwfranz explains how substitutions are stored in both v1.9 and the beta, which is in the registry. I believe we can safely assume v3 will do the same.

Best,
Jim

Re: How do I set font and format defaults?

I used to write user manuals. I bought Scrivener in 2015. And today, 4 APR 2020, I finally found out how to set the default font! I struggled with this for a while then gave up. It made Scrivener hard to use, especially since my visual acuity is declining. The tiny courier scratches just don't cut ...

Re: is there a file for the autocorrect function?

Short answer, no. Long answer, the substitutions list is stored in the registry, as explained in these posts by intrepid users who figured it out: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55653 https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37470 Best, Jim

I'm not seeing this behavior using a touchpad. Font selection and doc icon right-click working as normal.

What version of the beta are you on?

Re: On Compile, 1st line/1st paragraph of text not indented but subsequent paragraphs are. Want to indent 1st as well.

Yes, Krastev, you're definitely correct. But I was thinking/hoping the OP might be keeping the first paragraph by itself in a separate document type that has wrong setting in compile. Probably a long shot, but seemed worth it to check. What the OP wants to achieve is surely possible, as I created a ...

Re: On Compile, 1st line/1st paragraph of text not indented but subsequent paragraphs are. Want to indent 1st as well.

I'm able to get v1.9 to print with correct first paragraph indents, so the problem might be with your Formatting settings.

Confirm that all of your levels where the Text box is checked have a properly set First-Line indent marker (circled in the image below).

Re: Best Syncing Workflow WITH intermediate Failsafe Option?

Yeah, what Katherine said. Doing a manual Export after changing a project is as important to my iOS workflow as automated backups are to my Desktop Scriv workflow. In addition to emailing it to yourself, the iOS Export feature will also allow you to save your zipped backup to a cloud service. What I...

Re: Create a link / bookmark / cross-reference or something (in a document / folder) to a text phrase in the same docume

I can't speak for Keith, but I've never quite understood what need intra-document links address that cannot be met by the more "Scrivener-like" method of splitting a document and using document-to-document links. Well, Katherine, since you asked, :) , it's all due to the the lowly page up...

Re: Windows Setting Display Size Problem

Basically, after your scaling factor and everything is taken into account, you need to have "1080px effective height" for Scrivener windows to properly display. I don't know about this. On one of my computers, the monitor is 1680x1050 at 100% scaling, on the other 1280×960 100% scaling. T...

Re: Windows Setting Display Size Problem

Krastev & Devin - good points.

On my 2019 Lenovo, the utility Devin refers to is called Lenovo Vantage, and I use it to keep my laptop up-to-date. (At least I think it's the one he's referring to. :) ) You might want to see if that's loaded on your PC.

Re: Windows Setting Display Size Problem

I run the beta on a 14" Lenovo with 1920 x 1080 screen, at 125%, with no problems. The developer has said that there is a minimum resolution required to run Scriv Windows, although I can't seem to find the thread now. :( This in response to people who were posting that some beta windows were to...

Re: Create a link / bookmark / cross-reference or something (in a document / folder) to a text phrase in the same docume

Interesting, Devin. I've wondered if there was some underlying technical difficulty of making internal links to text. But as Comments/Footnotes are able to establish pointers back to text, it seems that anchors to text in RTF might not be the challenge, or the whole challenge. That is, if I click on...

Re: Latest update Srivener 3 beta for Windows?

After you've reset Scrivener to how you like it, then save your settings to a file. This will also save your theme settings. File > Options > Manage > Save Options to File (Save the file somewhere other than your Scrivener program folder. Wherever you store your Scrivener zipped backups would be a g...
