Re: iCloud Sync

Stop the Dropbox crap. Start supporting iCloud sync. Scrivener probably isn't for you. Live with it. Dropbox valuation is still in flux, and I haven't kept up with the latest so my numbers may be somewhat out of date. But at the end of July it was still valued at $9.4B, significantly higher than it...

How Does iOS Handle Sync Conflicts?

The only time you need an internet connection is when you the the "Sync" button, at which point Scrivener uploads any changes made locally and downloads any changes made on the server. OK - Help me out with this scenario... I appreciate this might be a silly situation, but based on the qu...

Finally !!, its exciting to read that the iOS app for Scrivener is ready for release next week - what we've been waiting for and always wanted !, a seamless way to sync one project between all devices, i.e. iMac, iPad, iPhone - just like we sync Calendar, Contacts, Emails, Notes thru Apple's iCloud,...

Re: Microsoft Word versus Scrivener

A-ha, now we get down to it: you're angry about our iOS version being so late - that's perfectly understandable, and reepicheep will be the first to agree with you there. :) To imply that our users are just blind believers stuck with what they are used to is highly insulting, however. No No - I am ...

Re: Microsoft Word versus Scrivener

If a person can do everything they need to do with a hammer, and if they don't want to use any additional tools for whatever reason, then the hammer is the right tool for them. Maybe some people can do more with a broken hammer than I can do with a box of tools. As Voltaire once said: "I disap...

Re: Microsoft Word versus Scrivener

I am able to navigate to any part of my manuscript via the navigation panel A question (because I haven't tried the navigation panel in Word): What do you see in the navigation panel? Every page, or Headings, or what? First this is the new version of MS Word for Mac - version 15.11.2, part of the n...

Microsoft Word versus Scrivener

I am trying to get a sense on the differences between these two applications on my fast growing manuscript. What is important for me is to be able to navigate with speed and easy through my manuscript. I also need the ability to synch with a cloud drive seamlessly between all my devices, i.e. Deskto...

Re: Dropbox Folder structure with Plain Text and Index Card

Thanks for the clarification. What I was doing with dropbox was 'folder synch' not the complete Scrivener file, hence I did not see the full structure. THANKS. I use two Mac's (Desktop and MacBook) plus the Plain text with my iPad. What I am taking away from this exchange, is to use dropbox to synch...

Re: Dropbox Folder structure with Plain Text and Index Card

When you sync your filename.scriv project with Dropbox, you create a Dropbox folder 'my project' and then scrivener creates subfolders /draft and /notes (if you do have notes) in it. You don't want to mess up with that structure (as you have learned). I would suggest you to sync your scrivener proj...

Dropbox Folder structure with Plain Text and Index Card

I am fairly new to Scrivener, written a few small documents and now attempting to synch with two iPad apps, i.e. PlainText and Index Card. I also use two computers a desktop and laptop (Macs). I have been able to synch after writing on both my computer and the iPad with PlainText. The above stated, ...

OS X Yosemite Beta

May I make a suggestion - that an update to Scrivener be expedited for the New OS X Yosemite 10.10 The Apple software is now available to both developers and public as a beta. The beta seems to be surprisingly stable and running very well on my Mac. The one big upgrade to this New OS version is furt...
