Re: Personal Request to Keith: if S3 not out, give public beta, or allow us into private beta

I'm about to embark on a long interstellar journey to the galaxy NGC 6822 in a spaceship I made myself out of an old skip, to help overthrow the intergalactic hive mind ZZZ67B. Due to time dilation I won't be back until approximately 3955 AD. As much as I've tried, I can't get out of this so please ...

Dark Feathered Hearts - science fantasy

I've just released Dark Feathered Hearts , the final volume in my four-book series The Book of the Colossus . Once again, it was written and compiled in Scrivener, which I think I'm just about getting used to :). I finally got round to making a standard template for writing based on a stripped-down ...

My 3rd book, AntiHelix, is out now, after moving to PC

My third book, AntiHelix , is now out on Amazon and Smashwords, with the paperback due in a week or so. It's a science fiction/Space Opera/steampunk novel and third in The Book of the Colossus series. The first two are called Thumb and Ragged Claws . Here's the blurb: Remorseless, vicious and brilli...

A workflow I've developed for writing using Scrivener

I've just finished the first draft of my third science fantasy novel AntiHelix and I thought I'd write a blog post on the workflow I've developed for writing books using Scrivener , a very boiled down version of Wiesner's First Draft in 30 days and bits of the http://ProWritingAid.com site. It's mor...

Re: Just launched my second book - Ragged Claws

Thank you! Much appreciated. We're fighting our own battles against TESCOS at the moment - the buggers are planning a massive store just outside our sleepy little rural town. Time to start building that wicker man.

Just launched my second book - Ragged Claws

It's taken almost a year but I've just launched my second novel, Ragged Claws , sequel to Thumb . Nearly everything was done in Scrivener, except for the formatting for the Createspace paperback. That was done in Mellel, which I've just rediscovered after too long spent floundering around Pages. I a...

Thumb - A Science Fantasy novel.

I've just released my first novel, Thumb , as an ebook on Amazon. It's a Science Fantasy/New Weird story set at the end of time when all the stars and planets have disappeared and the few humans left alive struggle to build a god to save them. It's the first in a series of four books. The idea has b...

Re: First Draft in 30 Days

I haven't come across a massive amount of extra material, mainly examples of famous books inserted into her worksheets. You can probably get by with the Guardian supplement. The links to the worksheets on the paper's site didn't work for me but someone at the Guardian sent me this alternate link: ht...

Re: First Draft in 30 Days

That's exactly what I was thinking. I bought the book on the basis of the Guardian article and I'm now putting the draft of my own novel through her process, using Scrivener. You're right that all of the fields and tags she has in her worksheets can be set up as metadata and tags in the program, so ...

First Draft in 30 Days

I picked up the Guardian (UK newspaper) on Saturday and it had, as a supplement, a condensed version of Karen S. Wiesner's First Draft in 30 Days . I'm usually a bit suspicious of anything that smacks of programmed writing, but this looks interesting. It seems to be more of a project schedule for pl...

Re: Sharing between windows and mac versions?

Problem solved, I had to Save as... a couple of 1.x projects in 2.x - then the scrivx file appeared and I can open them on the PC. Thanks :D

Re: Sharing between windows and mac versions?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I've got Scrivener set up on my Mac and on my Windows 7 machine with the shared files in DropBox. If I create a project in Windows I can open it on the Mac and re-open it on the PC (by using the .scrivx file). If I create a project on the Mac there do...
