Re: Help! Downloaded update now Scrivener won't load

tiho_d,

My mistake, it's part of a programming library. I should know better than to do this stuff late at night.

Anyhow, both of my installs are working fine.

Sorry to be a nuisance, I won't post here again.

Re: Help! Downloaded update now Scrivener won't load

I just checked my Event Viewer and no entries as well (I cleared mine just before I installed so there weren't a thousand entires to go through) and nothing for Scrivener. So I don't think that's an indication of anything since my versions work. Are you installing as an administrator? And also run i...

Re: Help! Downloaded update now Scrivener won't load

Just to add, 1.9.6.0 runs fine on my Windows 10 machine with the latest anniversary update (1607.) Don't know if this adds anything, but I must've installed 1.9.0.0 to my C:\Program files folder and I installed this to my C:\ Program Files (x86) folder. So I actually have both versions on my system ...

Re: Any hints on coming 3.0 features...

Thanks. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. As far as IOS, and Ipads, I spent years on Macs with FCP and Nuendo and also had an iPhone, but happily left it all behind. Personal preference, that's all. I have a feeling Scrivener's still going to look like a Mac program ported to PC. But it gets the...

Any hints on coming 3.0 features...

Putting the drama of the latest update aside, I was wondering if there will be any updates to the Windows Scrivener GUI in version 3. I like Scrivener, and have used it for two novels, but I really wish it had tabbed windows, darker themes, even more modern dialogue boxes. Yes, I know how much of it...

Direct Link to update download?

Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but there's usually a link given somewhere to download this directly.

Anyone have it? Thanks.

Re: Dictionary Question (Windows version)

katy12250, You may want to look into WordWeb Pro. I'd add a url but they sometimes get flagged. Just Google it. There is a free version, and a paying version that adds some additional features. You can set a hotkey that works in pretty much any program, and set tabs for some of the better online nam...

Try right-clicking on the icon and "run as administrator."

Re: Trouble with initial installation

I can't recall ever having to contact support. There are forum members here AmberV and MemeticMouton who I believe works for L&L. They have always been quick to respond here. Not sure how many systems you can install it on. I think it's at least two, but again someone from L&L will have to a...

Re: Trouble with initial installation

travwend This may not be a popular post, but you may want to try StoryBox 2. You get a 45 day trial. And I have no affiliation with them and I own both Literature and Latte programs. Anyhow, it's sort of a stripped down version of Scrivener, but it has themes, proper Wndows management and it doesn't...

Re: Trouble with initial installation

travwend, Have you tried just waiting? If I remember correctly, I had a similar problem with the installer. Try firing it up twice and, without killing them in the Task Manager, just let them sit in the background. May take ten minutes or more. In my case, one eventually popped up and I was able to ...

Re: Scrivener & Windows 10

"Scratch That" will work but only for your last dictated line. So that part works. To add vocabulary (at least in pro) you right click on the microphone icon in the task tray and open the Vocabulary editor. Then just add words the way you want them written and then train them. You can even...

Re: Scrivener & Windows 10

Oh, yes, I remember those posts. It's not inconvenient for me, if I need specialized words in the book or script I just add them in with the Vocabulary editor. (I use the pro version, but I think you can do this in DNS premium as well... not sure.) The rest is, well really just 99% dictating and tha...

Re: Scrivener & Windows 10

Sure, sorry for being so wordy. Essentially, you lose the "Full Text Control" that DNS normally offers, but dictating works. I just can't remember what version they dropped support for programs like Scrivener. Check out the Knowbrainer forums, they have a lot of knowledgeable people over t...
