Feature request: ignore words in ALL CAPS

Please could a future update include the option ignore spelling for words in ALL CAPS be added, and could that include all caps with punctuation? Every time I type a name with initials in front of it (which, as a historian, I do frequently), I have to add those initials to the dictionary. Thanks

Tiny feature request (re. Inspector notes)

When I use Ctrl-F5 to insert a footnote, the new note (in the Inspector) gets the focus immediately (so I can just paste the information I've copied directly into it), But when I use Ctrl-F4 to insert a comment, the focus doesn't shift. So, I have to take my hands off the keys and use the mouse to c...

Re: Enhanced Windows dictionary options?

Thanks for the suggestions. I've upgraded my dictionary too, and after some experiments, everything is working. However, I would like to make a request for the future. Please could the option to ignore spelling for words in ALL CAPS be added, and could that include all caps with punctuation? Every t...

Re: Please let me turn off the 'word lab' function.

As an ex-typographer, I would also say that your columns are just too narrow to use justified text. Depending on the needs of your project, you should consider one (or more) of the following: smaller font, wider columns, automatic hyphenation. Or just used ranged-left, if you want really narrow colu...

Re: Can we change the language for a single paragraph ?

I have the same issue and have to do the final polish in Ms Word. But Scrivener's benefits are still massively more important to me than these minor drawbacks. Still, something I hope will be part of a future update (although I'm sure that the devs couldn't possibly think about anything beyond shipp...

Good idea. I'd been meaning to suggest this too.

Re: [RC20] Performance worse than ever

Jje, hmm on this one too -- maybe. What caught my eye was '30,000 word chapter'. And then I did a double-take also. You and my editor both! I think this is something I need to tackle, rather than the developers. I was planning to wait for the final version of the software to create a brand new proj...

Re: [RC20] Performance worse than ever

@jje: You might also start Scrivener via ScrivenerLog.bat to check for any unexpected warning messages upon loading Scrivenings mode. You might also see document loading times, so you will know which document is causing the biggest delays. Thanks. Just tried that. The only error was "Warning: ...

Re: [RC20] Performance worse than ever

For me, a 35,000 word section loaded as a scrivening quickly: about 2 seconds. Displaying a whole book (151,0000 words) as a Scrivening took about 10 seconds. RC20, Windows 10, Core i7-6700 (4 Ghz), 16MB DRAM, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe SSD, two Nvidia GTX1060s driving 1 - 4K monitor and 4 - 1440p monito...

[RC20] Performance worse than ever

A couple of RCs ago, I thought I detected a marked improvement in loading text, especially when switching to Scrivenings view for a long chapter. However, RC19 seemed as bad as ever, and RC20 is worse still - there's now a very noticeable delay before you even see the "loading" message. Ho...

Re: If I don't update the beta before it expires....

Just one tiny point that may be worth emphasising: it's worth trying to remember to back up your settings before the beta expires, so that you can re-import them after uninstalling the old beta and installing the new one. That will usually save some time. (I just wasted mine by uninstalling before I...

Re: Scrivener error

Exactly the same problem here. Everything worked fine with RC18, now I can't start Scrivener at all. Some more info: 64-bit Windows 10 Home, version 20H2, Build 19042.844 16Gb RAM Norton 360 antivirus running, but no other programs open A quick search online suggests this error is usually caused by ...

[RC18] congratulations and a question

I've really noticed striking performance improvements in the last couple of betas: Scrivenings view (for 10-12,000 word chapters) now loads almost instantly. And I'm excited to see so many updated RCs with no change to their expiry date; feels as if we really are almost there! So, congrats and many ...
