Re: Scrivener 3 Under Wine

I was able to install and run Scrivener3 Rel. version with wine 6.4. But i have another (not so important) problem - the background colour on selected binder nodes is annoying (dark blue with black font). I was not able to figure it out, how that colour scheme is changeable. In options, only binder...

Re: Unable to license Scrivener 3 using Crossover

I'm running Crossover 20 and licensed Scrivener 3.0. Open a case with Scrivener support. They can help you with the licensing issue. Paddle software apparently requires IE and this seems to be the cause of the failure. I forgot all about upgrade pricing and so paid full-price through the L&L web...

Re: Closing double quote backward after emdash

When adding a closing double quote after an emdash it adds an opening double quote instead. double-quote-emdash-issue.PNG Smart quotes aren't. Even Word gets this wrong. Sad but true. I've been working around this issue forever. I automatically add a letter after the closing em dash to obtain the c...

Re: Please, test “Check for Updates” in RC17

Under Wine in Cinnamon 19.03 32bit RC17 to 18 update worked beautifully until its final request to reboot. It didn't, but also didn't freeze. After manual reboot it's fine. Scrivener update shouldn't require a reboot. It doesn't on a full Windows system, unless you have multiple user accounts logge...

Re: RC 17 - Compile Stuck at File Conversion -- Keeps Looping

Hello. I updated last week to the newest release candidate and had no new issues. I even compiled several times on Saturday, testing out some ebook design and format changes. This morning, when I attempted to compile, the process gets stuck at file conversion. It moves very slowly and restarts. The...

Re: Double-clicking selects punctuation as well

My WIP uses different fonts to distinguish one character's handwriting from another. I need the editor to be as close to what the manuscript will be as possible--I use "as is" when I compile to accomplish this rather than having Scrivener convert everything to Times Roman. Additionally, if...

Re: Workaround if the latest Scrivener beta crashes in Wine or Crossover

Well, I got it to run, but I also managed to crash the darned thing on Ctrl+A, Linux +wine, not crossover. If it won't run on Crossover, it won't run on Wine. Codeweavers are the brain behind Wine. From their website, "95% of the Wine code base we develop for CrossOver gets released back into ...

Thanks, sbradabang. I'd forgotten about that post.

I'm revising and cutting words on my WIP, and this is really slowing me down.

Double-clicking selects punctuation as well

When I double-click on a word, both the word and the punctuation adjacent to it are selected. A double-click should only select the word. If I choose to replace a name with a pronoun in a quote, selecting the name shouldn't select the quotation mark. For example, if I want to replace "Harry wen...

Re: Justifying text in the compilation

Have you tried one of these two methods:
1) used the "As Is" Section Layout?

or

2) Changed the section layout formatting to justify the text?

Re: A heads up on Crossover

You're welcome - and best of luck! Yes, thank you so much. I was finally able to upgrade to 20.0.2. I tried multiple times with v20 and RC11/12/13 on two distros (Fedora 33 and Mint 20). I also filed a bug with Codeweavers, but as noted above, they wouldn't do much because it is a Beta product. As ...

No wonder I haven't been able to run Crossover 20. I reported it to CodeWeavers they wouldn't touch the Scrivener Betas. I'll give this a try today.

Re: [Bug] RC12 version crashes when trying to open my "Notes" folder

your problem is most likely caused by a file inside your "Notes' folder. As per my email, I'm not sure how much my log files will do because of my environment. However, I did a bit more troubleshooting on my end. The LoDPI version would also crash, it just took longer. The same happened with b...
