Re: Writing with Apple Pencil in Editor iOS

I have used my apple pencil in IOS..... On notecards, and the editor window. The only thing I do before I open scrivener is open an icloud note and write with it so I know it's all connected. It seems interesting but could you please elaborate the workflow? Which App do you use when writing with th...

Re: What are the best tools for annotating and then extracting notes from PDFs for academic writing

I tried Liquid Text pro version on the Mac for annotating a web article and it crashed and lost the work I'd done. I then annotated the same article in Scrivener, and everything went well. So for now, I'll be using Highlights to annotate PDFs and Scrivener for web pages and web articles. (In all th...

Re: What are the best tools for annotating and then extracting notes from PDFs for academic writing

My workflow is messy, implying I could not find a satisfactory solution: - Papers for main long-term pdf library - Marginnote for mindmmaping and extracting information while crafting a manuscript - Goodnotes , mostly on the iPad + iPad, for proofreading, scribbling... - Currently looking for a Devo...

Re: Obsidian and RoamResearch

DevonThink is my long term notes and research repository. What exactly are you trying to accomplish with AI? DevonThink has a pretty decent ability to find "things like this," but making the kinds of connections that humans do is a very hard problem that as far as I know no one has solved...

Obsidian and RoamResearch

Hello, although imho Scrivener is close to perfection for crafting manuscripts, I need some software for collecting snippets, researching and long term notes storage. Indeed, I have tried several alternatives during the years (Evernote, EagleFiler, DevonThink, Omnifocus) but none yield nice results ...

Re: "Manuscript", software for crafting scientific papers

Although I must agree on the nasty support system for Papers, my experience with Papers 3 has improved after version 3.3. Thus, huge databases seems stable, synchronizing several computers works and I'm not suffering issues with the iPad version anymore. My personal experience with Microsoft Word,.....

Re: Things

I'm holding myself back from purchasing Things. Personally I found the tag system nicely flexible and the interface Zen-like. However, Omnifocus has more synchronization options and can tackle Sub-projects, folders and rearranging of items. Thus, for the time being, I stay with Omnifocus but future ...

Re: Together vs DevonThink 2.0

Thanks guys.
Prion, what might be the disadvantages of the Finder- integrated storage system?
I was about to purchase an Eaglefiler license over Devonthink Pro alternative but I'm not so sure anymore.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Re: Together vs DevonThink 2.0

I don't mean to be stubborn, but Together doesn't deal nicely (snappy and sluggish are subjective terms, though) with large databases and my case is only an example, many users, with different setups, have experienced that. On the other hand, I must say that the Finder friendly database format, used...

Re: Together vs DevonThink 2.0

Cycladic , I must agree Steve Harris is responsive to problems. However, Together support forum is bloated with perfomance issues and application crash related topics. It seems that different users have suffered them. I figure the limiting factor might be database size rather than the number of ite...

Re: Together vs DevonThink 2.0

Together displays a beautiful interface and, in my opinion, some nice features like the shelf and MobileMe synchronization. However, it becomes sluggish, literally crawls and take plenty of CPU and RAM, when your database size increases. I should have gotten an Eaglefiler license instead !!
