Re: Scrivener Freezing After Every Few Words and Backspacing

You might also try "Save and Rebuild Indexes". Close and Re-Open Scrivener, and the project after this action. If something is wrong with the project this might help a bit. Genius! I did this with one of the projects this always happens with. I opened it up, waited to see the freeze happe...

Re: Scrivener Freezing After Every Few Words and Backspacing

I've been under the impression it's happening on every project at all, but I tried opening a few smaller projects (very few documents) and it didn't happen that I could tell. So maybe it does have to do with Projects with a lot of documents in them. That said, my projects are generally in either Out...

Re: Scrivener Freezing After Every Few Words and Backspacing

This sounds very similar to a problem I have been experiencing all year, through the various updates that have come out. When I open a project in Scrivener and attempt to interact with it, it will freeze within a few keystrokes. The freeze will last anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Then it wil...

Re: Scrivener won't open

Hi MM, Funny thing is, I *just* stripped down everything in the process of moving to this computer - everything I didn't recognize as being an ASUS, Elan (touchpad drive) or a Microsoft thing and everything I'm not using, I uninstalled. And in some cases hunted down and deleted the registry keys for...

Re: Scrivener won't open

Unfortunately, Dropbox must have been a red herring. I'm still having problems. That Scrivener session I reported on during the previous post worked fine. I opened up three different projects, interacted with them, closed them again. But when I tried to start Scrivener again later, and it tried to l...

Re: Scrivener won't open

I just started having this problem over the weekend. I think I've found the solution, but I fear it's very specific to my personal situation. Just in case it helps someone else, though, here it is: I had just moved from a failing Dell Inspiron to a like-new ASUS that my husband abandoned some years ...

Re: Default Main Text Attributes affecting existing blank docs

Yeah, see the thing is, if you have entries in the binder that are empty of text, Scrivener doesn’t actually even create a text file for it (each single item in the Binder can actually represent up to four separate literal files on your computer, depending on how many features you use). This makes ...

Default Main Text Attributes affecting existing blank docs

My understanding of the Options->Editor->Default Main Text Attribute settings is that they "only apply to new documents." They determine the editor settings for any documents you create, right? But they shouldn't affect documents that have already been created, right? I find that they affe...

Spell check nonfunctional

I think this is a problem with the current Windows Beta, because I'm pretty sure I got the spell check to work in previous versions. Most of the time when I open the Tools menu, "Spelling" is grayed out. I don't know what causes that, and when it happens I don't know how to make it stop. C...

Re: Loading different .pref file fails to change font

Further details: This bug appears to replicate more reliably if I have more than one Scrivener project open at once. Just now had a project using Manuscript.pref open (double-spaced Courier New), then, without closing it, opened one for which Blog.pref (single-spaced Arial) is more appropriate; load...

Loading different .pref file fails to change font

Let's say I have the following two .pref files, with the following Default Main Editor Attributes: Blog.pref - single-space Arial 9 Manuscript.pref - double-space Courier New 9 Every time I open a project, I go to my Options and load up the appropriate .pref file so that new documents will be create...

Re: Split screen on single doc: unwanted cursor/scroll movements

Ah, bummer. This makes perfect sense and I feel silly now for thinking it was a bug. But thanks for the workaround idea! Taking it one step further, I could also just create the link notes in a separate document from the main blog post, then compile them together into a single HTML page to test ever...

Split screen on single doc: unwanted cursor/scroll movements

Discovered this one when doing some MMD blog-post writing. Again, the usual apologies in advance if this has already been reported and my search for duplicates missed it. So I have one document open: the blog post I'm writing in MMD. I have split the screen so that it is easy to switch between the p...

Re: Default editor settings on a per-project basis

Also, until now I've paid much attention to the markings on the ruler, but the inches are divided into sixths. Is there any reason whatsoever for this? Who in their right mind measures things in sixths of inches? Eighths, people, it's always been eighths!! Wow, you're right - how did I never notice...

Re: BETA 1.7.0.3 Released on 1st March 2014 (LATEST)

I am absurdly happy to now have my Compile "Content" selection persisting between individual Compile attempts. Not having to go find and select from the drop-down menu the individual document I want to compile MMd -> HTML every single time is such a relief!
