Better start reading the other posts on this forum on how to make it work, they tend to vary a little, but usually involves installing 32 bits library (if you are running 64 bits), plus some extra libraries and toying with aspell

That's just great Lee. I know it is not a priority but I must say that I am looking forward to a "final" version some day. I would very much like to buy and support what you guys do.

@ErichTWade to be fair, I posted this BEFORE I checked the spellcheker, which I somehow made it work but can't reproduce, oh well! Oddly enough, I somehow managed to get spellcheck (en) to work on Ubuntu 13.10 64 bits by accident. Following the steps only got me as far as having it find the right dictionaries, but the actual spell check did not work. Now, if I run the actual executable (without the script), it just works. Fresh actually. I just downloaded and installed straight away. It runs fine and all, only issues are with audio (gstreamer errors) and PDF (doesn't render)
