Characters: 0. Why?

Why is the number of characters shown to be zero here:

I imagine that means "Characters (including spaces)," but why is it zero?

Also, "No spaces" is not clear. I recommend "Excluding spaces," if that's what you mean.

Re: Considering iOS for Scriv. How do YOU use it?

Thanks, all.

I'll probably get the new iPad Air as soon as I finish July Camp Nano.

Re: Considering iOS for Scriv. How do YOU use it?

What I will say, though, is the modal sync via Dropbox took a little bit of getting used to. I also use Ulysses and got used to the sync just happening in the background. It took getting burned on a sync issue to make sure I went back to Scrivener's iOS list of my projects to ensure the sync happen...

Is writing in this way faster/easier than using the onscreen keyboard?

Considering iOS for Scriv. How do YOU use it?

I'm considering switching from my Android table to an iPad (partly because Scrivener supports it). I doubt I'd do serious writing with an iPad (I have a Macbook for that), but I might want to use it to do some plotting, scene creation, note taking etc. Do you use your iPad for things like that? Can ...

Re: Does Scrivener Support Apple Pencil Writing?

I don't have an iPad, but I'm researching it.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, this is all you need:

We should not have to pay $36 to be able to use macros!!

It's well worth the investment, and you'll find you use that program in many other applications and situations.

I wonder whether a response like this would be beneficial to everyone. We really appreciate the heads-up regarding a problem that might be coming up in the future. Thanks! A post like yours is also valuable to the daredevils who might be using Scrivener in this beta test environment [scared emoji he...

Re: Pasting a URL Without Changing Formatting

Hmm, do you have the Automatically detect web addresses option enabled in the Corrections preference pane? That should be a detected URL, though the algorithm does sometimes struggle, I’ve never seen it struggle with simple URLs like forum links. If you don’t mind having that option enabled, then d...

Re: Pasting a URL Without Changing Formatting

To confirm, try pasting the URL itself as plain-text into the editor, letting the editor recognise it, and then continuing to type off of it. You may even notice the whole URL “breaks” if you type without spaces. Here's what happens: If I copy the URL from the address line in Chrome, and paste it i...

Text Color After Fill

I've been impressed when Scrapple changes the text color based on the fill color. Today I was surprised to see the following: I selected all the five notes on the right and chose a new fill color. For one, the text color changed to white, for the others, it didn't: Screen Shot 2019-06-07 at 4.43.46 ...

Pasting a URL Without Changing Formatting

I often paste a URL into the Notes for a document. It makes it a link and changes the text color to blue and underlines it. However, if I add more text to the note, that new text be blue and underlined (though it's not a link). IOW, I need to change the text color and remove the underlining if I wan...

Re: Scrivener Boops at Me

I'm learning that this tends to happen after I've selected a menu option by first searching for it in the Help menu.

Does this happen to no one else? It can be inconvenient.

Just found that this happens with other apps as well.

Re: A Way to Highlight Documents For Each Subplot

Though an ephemeral view, if you select the docs in a collection then switch to the full binder, all your coll docs are highlighted there in situ. Yes, that does the trick, thanks! I can use it in conjunction with the icon trick. I'm finding that I need to bring up the collection, then select the d...
