Re: Stable way to reference external files

Thank you for your detailed replies. I didn't notice them until now, since I didn't get notified of an answer somehow. I agree with all of your remarks - Scrivener is not a replacement for a knowledge-management (I used OneNote earlier) or reference-management (I used Citavi earlier) software. But I...

How to access external (file) bookmarks among the document bookmarks on iOS?

Hi, I recently bought the iOS version, in addition to both Windows and macOS versions (though I'm not really using Windows recently), to do some light editing and writing on the go on my iPad Air (I don't expect Scrivener of iOS to have feature parity with other platforms). I was looking to pull in ...

Re: Stable way to reference external files

Thanks for the detailed reponse. I have used DEVONthink fairly consistently for over a decade (though I stepped away from it between version 3 and version 3.5 -- the last updates have done much to make it more workable for me). It is a solid solution to storing (and finding) large amounts of researc...

Stable way to reference external files

Hi, I'm looking for a good approach to handle a larger number of external files relevant to a writing project in a stable fashion, since I repeatedly managed to break aliases: I have different files, which are relevant to a writing projects — both rich and plain text files as well as other file form...

How to add password protected URLs as external links and import links to OneNote pages?

Hi, I'm trying to import research from different pages in my OneNote notebooks as External Inspector Bookmarks to Scrivener files and folders. Below I describe the issue, ask for a solution, suggest some feature changes based on what I saw and suggest a work-around in lieu of a solutoon. I hope this...

Re: $include doesn't pass section layout for $include'ed files and gets ignored in Regex replacements

Good and very dense answers - thanks. I also understand the reasoning behind the way this feature is encoded, but maybe this should be clarified in the documentation in more detail - particulary around these 'few blind spots' you mention - May be a corner case but it took me hours to understand the ...

Re: $include doesn't pass section layout for $include'ed files and gets ignored in Regex replacements

I'm not sure - the issue occurs in the context of LaTeX, but I suspect it is an inconsistency in the way Scrivener handles place holders (or I overinterpret the specification - either way it should be made consonstitent IMO). But the issue seems to be to specific as the lack of responses seems to su...

Re: How to select multiple titles (in order to change the case)?

Thanks! This is a potential solution, however it seems that titles can only be selected in the scrivenings mode when the option 'Show titles in Scrivenings' is activated. I set up shortcuts for both the WordService action as well as to select a paragraph to speed up the process. For what it's worth ...

Re: How to select multiple titles (in order to change the case)?

Thanks for the reply. I was aware of that option in the compile settings, but unfortunately it is not a solution to my issue, since I'm looking to revert all titles to regular English casing - the compile options allow only to set everything to upper case, lower case, and small caps, as well as 'Nor...

How to select multiple titles (in order to change the case)?

Hi, I'm looking for a way to manipulate case across multiple document and folder titles. I know I can select the title of a single document or folder and manipulate it e.g. using the case options under Edit > Transformations, but I'm not seeing a way to select multiple document/folder titles at once...

$include doesn't pass section layout for $include'ed files and gets ignored in Regex replacements

Hi, I'm trying to $include a LaTeX table I'm keeping in another Scrivener text using the following syntax: <$include:test> In this, test is a Scrivener link pointing to a text file containing the table. The text file has a custom section type latex , which is associated in the compile settings with ...

Escape Slash before placeholder

Hi, I'm trying to escape a slash occuring before a placeholder, instead of escaping the acutal placeholder. In the manual I found the following remarks: Escaping Compile placeholders: In very rare circumstances (for instance, if you were writing a book about Scrivener), you may find that you want to...

Controlling the path of attached files on compile

Hi, is it possible to have attachements to a Scrivener file which are being referenced in a project end up in a specific sub-folder, rather than the root of the compile? I have the compile output Latex via Multimarkdown and when I have image files or PDFs, which are referenced in the compile, they a...

Re: Linebreak in Metadata

Thank you for reasearching this further, I thought I had tried the slash, but clearly I must have not done so. I can confirm that your solution works for me too, and it also seems to be the standard way following this documentation here: https://fletcher.github.io/MultiMarkdown-6/syntax/newlines.htm...

Re: Linebreak in Metadata

Ah - I never considered it was an unexpected behaviour on the part of MMD and didn't get around to testing it on the command line. Yes I'll report the behaviour in that forum. Thanks for helping narrow it down! Could you think of any work around? I tried 'test1\\test2\\test3'{=latex} which yielded \...
