Scivener in Ubuntu; what's the latest?

I'm about to start using Ubuntu. I'm trying to get away from Windows, but I will use Virtual Machine, so can use either Windows or Ubuntu, even though I loath Windows. I see it's still in Beta. Realistically, should I start new writing projects in Windows or Ubuntu? Also, very important: I believe I...

Re: Migrating from Windows to Mac

I had asked previously about transferring a scriv license from Win to Mac. That's actually the least of my concerns. The real concern is: Will I be able to open and convert Scriv files made in XP over to the Mac version of Scriv? How to address this concern? Would I need to just keep using the Windo...

Re: Multiple related books in same binder?

Thanks, that's a good reference. To clarify. If I want to exclude folders, when I compile, I can deselect them. Does this deselect the docs within the folders or do they have to be deselected separately? That could be laborious, if there were many. How to exclude folder with content quickest? I see ...

Re: Format Headings; folders, pages?

Isn't the most obvious solution, to just use subfolders, in place of files, where I would want heading formatting to transfer over to word?

Multiple related books in same binder?

I've had multiple pieces of projects spread out between Word, Mind Manager and Evernote. These all have their virtues, but I seem to struggle with organization and access to information; for that matter, even knowing what I've written! If I have multiple titles planned under a related theme, such as...

Format Headings; folders, pages?

Is it possible to set up heading formatting while in Scrivener, so that when I export to Word, the headings will transfer over? One person said it was necessary to use folder, because they could be formatted, where pages cannot? I don't know. How can I set up H1,2,3 while in Scrivener that will tran...

Adding Collections

I almost wonder if this is a glitch? I'm playing around and exploring the software, getting ready to start using it for the first time. I was interested in trying to figure out a way to have multiple projects going in one project file. So I added a "Collection", which I thought would allow...

Clarification on draft and research folders

If you can have text in draft folder and research folder handles image files and such. Then how do you go about inserting images into your text, so that when you export your draft, it's got the images in the correct places? I'm a little confused on seeing how it fits together.

Thanks!

Run multiple drafts in one binder?

How best to have multiple projects loaded into the same window? Rather than closing one file and opening a new one, I'd like to be able to have multiple related book projects opened in the same workspace. Such as multiple drafts, each it's own intended book project. Is this doable and practical? Wha...

Re: Automated Proof Reading

Thanks for these suggestions. I will look into them. I have no experience working with macros, but maybe it's time to start. I still invite anyone having other ideas to post, also.

Exporting or Saving to .doc???

I'm a newbie with the Scrivener. I see that it has built in ability to create Kindle formatted ebooks. Smashwords is another site that I intend to upload to. They distribute to several sites, including Apple, B & N, Sony. I was going to use them for all other sites except Kindle, which I will do...

Migrating from Windows to Mac

I'm about to start using Scrivener on Windows. However, I am considering moving to Mac some months from now. Will I be able to read my Scrivener files on the Mac version? Are there precautions I should know about now?

Thanks

Automated Proof Reading

I've just found this Scrivener software and it looks fantastic! I am eager to get started using it, as I have several writing projects lined up. The thing is, I am a somewhat slow reader. And proof reading takes me soooo long to do. I have used White Smoke with some success. I'm just wondering, does...
