Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

What if I had bought the program now? Ok they do not guarantee that it works. But that is what the trial is for. I test the program with trial, see, that it works flawlessly, at least flawlessly enough for me and decide to buy. And it turns out the licensing does not work. A thing I could not have t...

Re: Activation Problem

It is a very known problem. I don't know if anyone has been able to use the license on Linux after they had installed a new system needing umpteen modules which sometimes work in Windows when the moon is right. It possibly checks for operating system and throws you out if you aren't running Win10 wi...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

Link for the curious: the Scrivener for Windows license agreement. http://www.literatureandlatte.com/downloads/Scrivener-EULA-Windows.pdf You are responsible for checking that your operating system and any software that you use on that operating system will not affect the functionality of the Softw...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

That it has got working (so far?) for most Windows users does not make it less Defective By Design, i.e. Intentionally broken. "Protecting it from illegal use" by preventing also legal use. If the licensing had been done properly (give the program the code and it checks it -- internally, w...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

Unsupported platform or not but a program must NEVER NEVER crash because of a broken license. That's the thing. When you're using it on an unsupported platform, you can never know if the problem arises from the software or the platform. Wine is not Windows. Besides, there is a Linux forum for that ...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

Most ticket systems have an automated response that just says, received it and will get back to you shortly. I don’t know how the automated acknowledgment could be more helpful. Actually it was unhelpful by in addition to being a receipt listed random irrelevant stuff. You have accuse L&L of cr...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

I sent a ticket and got the most unhelpful automatic message. Also I did have the newest version (as I told I had attempted update just before sending that message) of everything. I had just updated my system, including packages needed for running Windows programs (through Wine) As I'musing Linux I ...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

I made the mistake of updating my Scrivener and got into the "update NET" - bomb. I'm using Scrivener through wine (and it is updated, on Ubuntu 18.04, so it should correspond to the latest Windows quircks). I tried to fix it by downloading the exe from the link provided (the 8.9. one), wi...

Re: bug reporting on unofficial linux version ?

It did not work so well (in both meanings: not bringing in money and not functioning; I suspect the latter caused the former) and I suppose it is therefore disabled. I namely tried to donate some time ago and was stuck of it trying to force me to create a Paypal account, as I wished to just use my c...

Re: Seg fault / core dump on exit on 1.9.0.1-i386

I wonder if that is related to what is happening to me almost every time. I usually leave just by closing the window, the program seems to close cleanly (all from graphical interface) telling it's running backup etc. But a moment later there appears (at the top of what I happen to be doing, usually ...

Re: Linux 1.9.01 Beta Released

Thank you very much! I have one question: Where can I donate for this version? Hannes Thank you for the kind offer Hannes. I truly appreciate it, but it's on me. We did try a donation option in the Help menu of the previous Linux version, but had less than half-a-dozen donations over almost two yea...

Re: Who want a Linux release version?

I'd pay immediately for a linux version. The current beta has its glitches - so if it is released as a commercial one, it should have a reduced price compared with the others. I'd prefer not to use Scrivener via wine for two reasons, one technical the other political. Technical is that wine adds ano...

Unable to donate...

Paypal.png I would have give a sum for developing (thought of giving the sum the commercial versions would cost with Nano discount, but didn't get it to work. I do not have (and actually rather not will!) have a Paypal account. But the system wanted me to make one, not accepting my credit card dire...

A crash report

My scrivener crashed unexpectedly, as I was simply typing on (of course it is possible that I hit some odd key combination by mistake). (I thought I'd copy the crash report here, but for some reason it is impossible to copy it from the report window, and there is a lot of text) I try to choose the m...

Re: Copy and paste issue

I've noticed the same. The text that was in Liberation Serif, sometimes (I hevent been able to see a pattern) comes out as courier. Usually rediong the operation fixes it.

1.7.2.3. beta (32 bit) on Ubuntu linux (and unity) 12.04, my little cute Acer Aspirer One netbook.
