Re: How to pet a kitty!

The portrayal of these cats reminds me a lot of the one in Simon's Cat - every cat owner whom I show this is saying something in the lines of "haha, yeah, that's just like my cat".
In contrast to the oatmeal's description, I rarely saw a cat use a flip chart, though.

Re: Books you haven't read but feel you should

Twilight . Is that* a mistake? H *For the avoidance of doubt, I'm referring to my failure to read the book... To redeem myself from the nearly-recommendation of Twilight, I'll just say no :D Although I liked to read it, I definitely wouldn't say that anyone has to read it. My own list of must-read-...

Re: I am Legend

I have to agree with everything they say there. The bloomin' title , I AM LEGEND, makes no sense whatsoever with the altered ending It does. He found a cure for that "Vampiris" (ok that name is from the book :D). He sacrified his life to save the cure and two humans. So he's a legend caus...

I am Legend

I like the film adaption (the one with Will Smith), so I thought I'd read the book. Mostly, I liked it, and at the start, I thought "well hey, that sounds better than the movie!". But as the book progresses, I liked the movie more and more - that doesn't mean the book gets worse and worse,...

Re: Telling stories with songs

I wrote with Roland Enders ( here is his english site), who both makes music and writes stories (aside from shorter stories also a novel). Unsurprisingly, he said both is a lot of work. Also, he said having multiple characters and a deep story packed into a concept album is complicated, opposed to d...

My theory. Please feel free to tear it to pieces.

Let me start: Her name is Etta! :D
Seriously: Your theory of "three powers" condenses an important point very well!

Re: Techniques for getting from a concept to an outline / a plot

That's difficult, indeed. It could be helpful to slow down and start with a first step. For your example, just start to imagine a usual day of little Larry Plotter in his non-magic life without getting to the next plot point already. Let it play like a movie in your head, fueled by your imagination,...

Re: Unpublished stories

@ Jaysen: I didn't really like the idea of reading out books or listen to them read out because I read very fast, so hearing it would be slowing my reading down and distracting me from imagining it. But this morning, I wanted to start to read "I am Legend" because my brother was too lazy t...

Re: Crafting Worlds

That would be one of my goals with writing: bring a world to life. Not (just) because I can save time on researching existing worlds, because I think that's one of the big possibilites with fictional writings. The characters are still more important to me, though. ;) Until now, I didn't create one m...

If you (the community) continue to post good links for writers, I may start writing novels again!
Wait, is this a bad thing? :D

Re: Telling stories with songs

Didn't expect such quick and interesting responses :) Thanks! Siren: Looks and sounds very interesting, if I'd only be able to understand it :( It's especially interesting because he relies on voice and guitar (for the sound part). Jaysen: I originally wanted to add that I also thought of concept al...

Telling stories with songs

I really like the music of Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Cash because they tell stories with their songs. Since I can play the guitar and sing, I'd somehow feel like I'd "waste" these skills if I'd just write stories in form of novels. Also, I could play these songs with friends, play them ...

Actually, I like it... Even encourages me a bit to start writing again, at the moment I'm more into the "Block" thingy :D
Edit: Okay, it get's amusing when it starts with cutting out one adjective at every page and such stuff...

Re: Twilight

PS - If you really want to be turned off the books and movies and the cult it has become I don't care much about the cult, except that some more people have the books so I don't have to buy them. Usually, I buy books when I really like them since I'll want to read them again once - but I'm not sure...
