Re: Installing Scrivener on a replacement machine

Yes, all you need to do is re-enter the same serial number. You can activate up to ten computers, and if you run out of activations, then as long as you haven't activated ten in the space of three months, the oldest activation is reclaimed to use for the new activation. In other words, you never hav...

Re: Update failing

JoRo's point was that if the update is failing for some reason (a firewall or something perhaps? We have no other reports of this), then you can bypass the update and just download and re-install directly from our downloads page (the links JoRo provided).

Re: Images look faded and have false colors

This happened to me awhile ago when I accepted an update or maybe when I paid for the newer version. I have been afraid to add other updates. Since this happened- all my images were faded in over 50 projects! I have lost track but was suspicious this may be happening to new images also, as you said...

Re: Problem with Blank Line Separators

The main issue with the older formats is that Amazon's "Look Inside" feature can end up messing up the formatting, because the older formats use multiple CSS files and Amazon's "Look Inside" feature has a bug whereby it just uses the first CSS file it finds rather than the one in...

Re: How do I put an empty line between paragraphs

The thing to bear in mind is that ePub 3 and Kindle KF8/Mobi exports work a little differently from the old ePub 3 and Kindle Mobi exports. They produce much cleaner and better HTML and CSS, but as a result they require you to use styles when you want your text formatted differently from the base te...

Re: writing history putting writing in "other" instead of "draft"

Perhaps the documents are not set to be included? That is, maybe "Include in Compile" is turned off for those documents?

Re: Adding a page break to a template?

You can name documents what you want or you can leave the titles empty in which case they will show the first few words of the document text. If you really don't want each page in a different document, you can use page layout view (via View > Text Editing > Page View) and insert a page break manuall...

Re: How do I put an empty line between paragraphs

You said: I have tried checking 'empty line' separators in the 'text' section' That will only work if your text is set to use the "Text Section" Layout. But you say: No, in the 'Assign Section Layouts' I have chosen "As-Is - Include only the main text, based on its appearance in the e...

Re: Adding a page break to a template?

The built-in Comic template is already set up to place a page break between each "Page" item - you just need to make sure you start each new page in a new document in the binder.

All the best,

Re: Problem with Blank Line Separators

Thanks. I had misinterpreted the original post and thought snippets posted were from the HTML, not what was shown in the reader. I have now reproduced the bug and fixed it for 3.0.4.

All the best,

Re: Automatic numbering of the scenes

Thanks for the excellent program. Really useful for various types of documents! It would be great to have automatic scene numbering available. I don't see the option though in the scriptwriting settings under paragraph. What am I doing wrong? I've version: 1.9.8.0 - 15 Jun 2018 installed on a Windo...

Re: Problem with Blank Line Separators

Where is your "Resources" folder, though? If it is in the same folder as the .scriv project, then it should work, like this:

/Path/My Scriv Project.scriv
/Path/Resources

If it's somewhere else, that wouldn't work.

There is no way of tracking this, I'm afraid. Text on the pasteboard is just text on the pasteboard - there's no other information there.

Re: Remove first line indent [sigh]

In general, it's best not to apply styles to body text, but only to text that is different from the rest of the text. If you do want to have a style applied, though, then you will need to remove the indentation by overriding the style. To do this, in the "Styles" pane of Compile, add your ...
