Re: pdf and image problem

Glad that helped. Oooooh, so great ! thanks a lot, that works with moving the indent and force keeping format. That made the thing simple... you are the one ! May I ask "why" those indents are automatically created when creating new text ? That's just the default paragraph format...

Re: Quick Notes entry from outside the app

And how would it get that information? Search the entire hard drive for .scriv projects every time you fire up the widget? That sounds like one of them coding problems people keep talking about. :D The widget wouldn’t need to be app based, but project (ie for a specific .scriv) based - so presumabl...

Re: pdf and image problem

Thanks for that. I think I've found what is going on - the image is indented, which is pushing it off the edge of the page by the size of the indent. Try this: 1. Select the image. 2. Show the ruler (Cmd-R). 3. Look at the first line indent. This is what you get if you just imported the image withou...

Re: pdf and image problem

Hi

That is very strange. Which version of macOS are you on? Could you possibly attach the image causing the problem (or email it to us for my attention) and also let me know what page size you are using, so that I can try to reproduce the issue?

Thanks and all the best,
Keith

Re: Inside / Outside margins appear swapped in PDF for print

It's hard to tell if it's wrong from the screenshot without knowing what pages came before, but I think it's probably correct. "Inside" will be the left margin on recto pages and the right margin on verso pages. But remember that the standard is for the *first page* of a book to be a *righ...

Re: Quick Notes entry from outside the app

I've looked at widgets in the past but the problem with them for Scrivener is that they have to operate completely independently of the app itself (obviously). Bear and Notes etc don't work with multiple projects, but just have a single repository of texts. So a widget just has to add a new note to ...

Re: Mac Big Sur & Scrivener

That doesn't mean we won't *try* to help, though! But it does mean that we can't guarantee to get you up and running on a beta OS. That exception is pretty weird, though - that's the sort of thing you see when an app is trying to run something via the command-line. Did you try Login's suggestion of ...

Re: Line and Paragraph Spacing cannot be changed

Great, many thanks for reporting this to Apple! I have my fingers crossed it's going to be fixed, but if not, it's probably about half a day's work to implement my own version of the paragraph spacing panel. With all the other work I still have to do on Big Sur, though, that's not something I'll do ...

Re: Mac Big Sur & Scrivener

I'm not seeing any problems launching Scrivener on Big Sur. However, the bug reported above, which I said was fixed in Big Sur beta 5? Apple has just brought it back in beta 7. :( And it is definitely an Apple bug. I'm looking for a workaround, of course. I sure hope Apple doesn't release Big Sur to...

Re: Line and Paragraph Spacing cannot be changed

The fact that you’re running the Big Sur beta is exactly the issue. You should never use an OS beta for real work, because they are always buggy. The missing icons issue you mention is down to a silly but nasty bug in Big Sur which finally seems to have been fixed by Apple in today’s developer beta ...

Re: New Big Sur Icon?

Ooh, good idea - this always happens when we change our icon. Maybe I'll just have an icon of a close up of my left nostril, and just be done with it.

Re: New project won't fill screen

Hi,

Please update to the latest version of Scrivener - what you are seeing is a bug that could affect an older version.

All the best,
Keith

Re: New Big Sur Icon?

We will indeed be transitioning to a rounded square icon to fit in with Big Sur. We're still throwing ideas around on how it will look, but it will have some variant of the "S" in it (I'm still working on the Big Sur update). I have to say that I really hate the new icons that use the Mess...

Re: Replacing hashtags with a class tag.

Ah, that's a bit tricky, because the text will be escaped for HTML and not treated as raw HTML. A better approach there would be to use blank lines between sections (or split the sections into different documents), and then to use e.g. the"Blank Line Separators" option in the "Separat...
