Re: Confusion over lack of Linguistic Focus in Win version

Unlike the admin of this forum who cared nothing about the reputation of this company, I do care about mine. The forum rules are very short: "Be polite. That's pretty much it!" https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=40997 It may not be your intention, but you co...

Re: How can i have page numbers before i compile?

I don't know about you, but I have printed out a few pages from the program before, or converted a few to PDF, and usually get whatever is on the page after just tweaking one or two preferences. And you know what? It looks just like the page in the editor. All the text in the right spot. My output ...

Re: Snapshots: mark duplicates

That would happen if the project is open in Scrivener with the document open in the Editor and you change focus from the external editor to Scrivener and e.g move the cursor in the editor. Scrivener is continuously saving any document open in the Editor, every time you stop writing for a few seconds...

Re: How can i have page numbers before i compile?

I know I am a bit long in the tooth, but surely you have heard of the 80s and early 90s where probably 95% of all word processors lacked a wysiwyg interface? AND had page numbers. The writing software I used in the early 1980s didn’t have any pages, weren’t anything close to wysiwyg and consequentl...

Re: Snapshots: mark duplicates

I use an external program for editing. Scrivener doesn't like its internal project files being modified directly. ... unless it’s done by Scrivener itself. From your posts I get the feeling you are having the project open in Scrivener and sort of switching back and forth between Scrivener and the e...

Re: How can i have page numbers before i compile?

I don't think something like being able to view a page number on the actual page is going to send Scrivener spiraling into ruin. No, but it would require Scrivener to become wysiwyg, which it is not and not meant to be. How could you add page numbers and page header/footer unless it formatted the d...

Re: Snapshots: mark duplicates

did you read? I said folder sync. That's a Scrivener feature and nothing to do with the cloud. I do it several times each session. Ah, you mean "Sync with external folder"? Why didn’t you say so? Snapshots are still not meant as a backup system, only a means to compare documents that have...

Re: Snapshots: mark duplicates

Using folder sync can result in a lot of duplicate snapshots piling up and bloating up the project folder. (No, I will not disable the option to automatically make snapshots. The folder sync has eaten my writing a few times.) Syncing doesn’t eat anything, it only uploads and downloads files to or f...

Re: How can i have page numbers before i compile?

I probably would if I wasn't told to stop complaining everytime I inquired about features Scrivener does not have. I read through all 12 of your forum posts, split over two subjects, and nowhere were you told to stop complaining. Even so, maybe you would get better answers if you asked about featur...

Re: identifying scrivener objects

Have you done the built-in interactive tutorial? It explains the various parts of Scrivener in an easy way. And it explains that there are no different parts in the Binder. It’s all just documents, but sometimes with different icons, if you want them to have different icons. Start with the tutorial ...

Re: I’m thinking of deleting and reinstalling Scrivener on my Iphone to fix my sync problem

Before doing that, export what you do have on each device as .rtf or .docx files, in case anything goes wrong.

But it’s more likely tjat you’re setup is weong, i.e that iPhone and iPad are not looking in the same folder on the Dropbox server.

Have you checked that both iPhone and iPad are syncing to the same folder in your Dropbox account?

Re: Cross platform compatibility

You would make a very poor scientist. Just to recap for anyone else (please not you) who may read this, If I create a project on Mac and save it to iCloud it can't be read by Scrivener for Windows. If I do the same thing and save it to OneDrive it can. In reverse, if I use Scrivener for Windows to ...

Re: Cross platform compatibility

it seems that a project created in Scrivener for Mac and saved in iCloud is not readable by Scrivener for Windows. However, a Mac project saved to Microsoft OneDrive is accessible to Scrivener for Windows. The same is true for a Windows Scrivener project saved to iCloud where it is not readable to ...
