Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

Do you think Backblaze knows what their continuous backup does to an open Scrivener project? We’re talking about saving backups, which is a static copy of a project at a specific time, and not live open projects. Is that where you get lost in the discussion? I save my Scrivener backups in a folder ...

Re: All of my documents are empty????

Bad luck...

But how do you expect help without more info on what you did before it happened, where you are saving projects, etc?

Re: Trash, Rename, Split & Compile

I have a world of challenges with this program. As others have said, what you are asking about is Mac basics, not about Scrivener. Istrongly advice that you get yourself a basic book about how to use a Mac. It will save you lots of trouble in the future. One such example is this one: https://www.ta...

True, but having zipped backups in e.g TimeMachine makes it possible for someone to tell them how to retrieve their project.

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

I have the Dropbox plus plan, and the versioning only cover the last 30 days. So it’s not really a backup that way either, but more of a "shit I made a misstake and saved changes I meant not to" which means I am aware I made a misstake and know that the version from 2-3 days ago doesn’t ha...

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

Three different TimeMachines, connected to three different Macs, and all backups also stored in another cloud service than Dropbox.

Re: iCloud Sync

My iCloud sync stalled for 9 month two years ago. No explanation, no solution. I had to move everything to Dropbox, which has never ever caused even slightest error or delay. I have been using Box as well, but will drop it now that they more or less forced me to use Box drive on an old Mac. So I’ll ...

Re: WORDS ARE KING to writers - THEY ARE OUR #1 PRIORITY!

It's an entirely different thing to attack the use of new words as a general practice (as Lunk's question appeared to be doing) I didn’t. I have been teaching at university level for over 35 years and teaching the students a new, professional vocabulary is a part of that. But storytelling is differ...

Re: Word wrap around images + TOC and Appendix questions

If you need to do layout, you need a layout app, like Affinity Publisher. Scrivener can compile to many formats, but it’s not a wysiwyg editor and not a layout tool. It can create a ToC but it’s not a dynamic ToC, you make it when you are done writing. Scrivener is a writing software, not a desktop ...

Re: WORDS ARE KING to writers - THEY ARE OUR #1 PRIORITY!

I am creating a whole universe with several THOUSAND non-standard words: - - - This rings true for EVERY writer out there - fiction or non-fiction. New words and specialist jargon is rife in everything, as are proper nouns. No, very few writers create thousands of specialist words. Most probably do...

AND when you finish writing! Make a habit of syncing every time you open the app and before leaving it. Always back out to the project screen and sync before leaving the app.

Re: Project not appearing on iPad.

Just a hunch but all evidence points to iPad Dropbox not syncing at the same intervals as on your real computers ... On computers, the Dropbox app handles syncing in the background, while you are using the computer, irrespective of what you are doing. On an iPad, Scrivener itself handles the syncin...

And you are sure that you use the same account and your iPad looks in the same sub-folder under your Dropbox folder?

And you are using Finder to check things..?

Did you download and install the Dropbox app on the new Mac? And start it?
