Re: -bak.zip in Dropbox

Two of the beautiful things about Scrivener are its automatic saving of the working project and its automatic backup routine.
Open, write some, wait a few seconds, close the project, and all you wrote is safely both saved and backed up. :)

Re: -bak.zip in Dropbox

What are these files? - - - Does it mean my sync failes somewhere and backup is being created? Or are these the extra copies made for conflicting files? Neither. They are backups, copies of older versions of your project, made for safe-keeping, usually every time you close the project (depending on...

Re: Justification for section heading

Have you done the tutorial, the part about compile?

Re: Back-up lost / working across 2 devices on Scrivener

Back-ups are for safe-keeping. You don’t use them unless something goes wrong and you need to go back to a previous version. Re: "Split at selection" needs 2 prompts

If you just want to split, don’t select any text. Just put the cursor where you want the split.

Re: How to see splits in corkboard

In the binder you select the level you want to display in the corkboard.

Have you done the interactive tutorial, found in the help menu? If not, do it! It explains all the basics.

Re: merge with file name as heading?

I don't think so.
Why do you merge them if you essentially want to retain them as a kind of sub-parts in the text?
Why not simply use scrivenings view and display the titles in the text?

Re: merge with file name as heading?

When you merge two documents, the two becomes one and can only have one title. To me it sounds as if you are moving documents, not merging. From your description it sounds as if you have a document with sub-documents, and you want this whole structure to be a part of another document, right? If so, ...

I am any user, and I wouldn’t want that.
When a document was edited is of no importance at all to me, and even less so the relative order between many documents in a project.
