Re: Is Scrivener NICER on Mac?

About half my writing time is spent using a Lenovo Yoga X1 gen3 laptop in stand mode, with MX blue or MX brown mech keyboards - so these things can happily coexist. :D True, but it makes it decidedly less portable and I get a lot more screen real-estate with my 43" monitor. I also have two 24&...

Re: Is Scrivener NICER on Mac?

Laptops are fine for writing on the go, but they're a little cramped for everyday use. In my experience, nothing compares to a desktop with a full-sized mechanical keyboard. About half my writing time is spent using a Lenovo Yoga X1 gen3 laptop in stand mode, with MX blue or MX brown mech keyboards...

Re: Is Scrivener NICER on Mac?

Just one user's opinion: I've been writing all sorts of content (academic books and papers; lecture notes; non-fiction essays; short stories; letters to the bank manager) on all sorts of machines, with all sorts of software for a few decades now, and Scrivener on a 13" MacBook Air is the best ...

Re: Is Scrivener NICER on Mac?

Well, I'll spare you the Mac vs Windows argument as it's rather tiresome, but I will say this: Scrivener 3.0 is coming to Windows, I can't give you an exact timeline, but it is coming. It's in beta testing and the beta is pretty darned stable, so hopefully that means it will be coming soon. It's alr...

Re: Working with Beta Version

Your files would be stored externally like almost any other word processor, so you shouldn't loose anything when updating from the beta to the full version. Regardless, Scrivener has some pretty extensive backup settings, it's always a good idea to make use of those just in case the worst should hap...

Re: Reduced Cross-Platform Support

As someone else who has also been waiting for the windows v3, I completely understand your feelings on this. Do know that your not alone. It is a known issue, however there is not much we can do. We are not a priority, or at least that's the impression. I am starting to see writing review sites men...

Re: How to move Scrivener (bought as an App from the App Store) from by old Macbook to my new PC?

@devinganger & @xiamenese It appears I've been corrected. Truth be told, I always assumed the platform discount was more for people who were wishing to use both. Ive had other developers who've transferred licenses for me and I thought that may be a viable alternative to buying a new license. We...

Re: A farewell to the Windows forums... and a hello to Mac ones

As much as I hate to be 'that guy', neither the notch nor facial recognition were original to Apple. The Sharp Aquos S2 and the Essential Phone (both are Android phones) featured notches and were both released in August of 2017 beating the iPhone X by 3 months. The Motorola Atrix 2 (Again an androi...

Re: A farewell to the Windows forums... and a hello to Mac ones

The notch is not for the selfie camera as such. Its main function is to house the camera and the components of FaceID. Funny everyone slagged it yet every phone mfr copied it on at least one model, even without being able to replicate FaceID and some of the copies (Google, talking to you) were even...

Re: Dropbox sync is too restrictive - any other option, even iCloud??

I understand your frustration, but it's really iCloud, Onedrive and other cloud storage providers that you should be disappointed in as they are the ones who have not added the capability Scrivener needs to syncronize projects across devices. That being said there are a couple workarounds to the dev...

Re: Why do you use or want a Mac?

Mac has been always very much faster than windows. Windows get lagged as compared to Mac. As with an system it really depends on what you put in it. Exactly. And that original quote is pure BS to begin with. Almost every such "comparison" is done by looking at bargain-basement Windows bui...

Re: Support for Dual Monitors

You can achieve this with Scrivener 3... sort of. I haven't tried it in the Windows Beta so it may or may not work, but it definitely does for the Mac version. You can right click on a binder item, select "Open" then "Quick Reference" and a floating window will appear which you c...

At the risk of feeling sheepish, I must admit for some reason I thought the OP was asking about the Mac OS version.

Re: iCloud Saving on iOS (NOT sync)

From what I've gleaned iCloud tends to flub up live scrivener files, but there's good news, zipped files are safe. Since Scrivener's automatic backup zips file, you can set an iCloud folder as your back up location.
