Re: Kindle Book opens in middle of TOC

Did you test it by compiling to ePub or Kindle format ?

Re: Running one text into another

Have you tried setting a custom separator to nothing in Compile settings ? What does that do ?

Re: Guidance required re changing Project name

However I don't want to leave it in my files under that old name as I know it will cause continued confusion in the future. I'm not sure if I understand you completely, but wouldn't "Save as" New.scriv fulfil your need? And what about the auto backups and closing down backups ? and existi...

Guidance required re changing Project name

I have used one name for my current book project since i started writing it three months ago. Let's call it "Old.scriv" . But latterly I decided to publish the book with a different title, and have now almost finished it and plan to leave it with that new title "New.scriv" . Howe...

Re: distracting lines while I wrote or edit

I get a similar thing on my green screen .. a white line of sorts... thought it was some kind of graphics glitch.

Future Feature Request:: Synopsis: Enable expansion

A function suggestion for the next version is to allow the dragging of the border between the 'Synopsis' and the 'General' section of the Inspector up and down to reduce/expand it's size. The only way of achieving an adjustment now is to Widen the Inspector column, which expands the Synopsis whether...

Re: Save jpg, or cut and paste image?

Until one of the developers drops by with a definitive answer, I will say that I believe it makes no difference. The images are simply copied into the project either separately or part of the document, which is stored within the project as an rtf document. You can check on the sizes by right clickin...

Re: Don McCallister's video OUTSTANDING!

1. What is the difference between folders and just starting with text .docs, so to speak, inside each other? Don't complicate things too much at the start. Think of folders as simply for organisation of sections or chapters. 2. When adding .jpgs/.PNG/.PDF files, does that drastically increase file ...

Re: Writer's research forums ?

The debate is really about where to draw the line, and the best way to actually get whatever information is needed. One would have thought that that was an obvious and self evident concept but clearly after four pages it is not  A sensible writer should be able to assess how much his actual w...

Re: Writer's research forums ?

Do you mean: we should read all those books?!? Why, if others have already read them and can answer our simple questions about their content?!? My answer: http://www.pigfender.com/index.php/2015/01/any-resemblance-to-reality-is-purely-coincidental/ To add to your cases: a few days ago I spent a ful...

Re: Writer's research forums ?

The idea that just because my character goes to Chicago for 48 hours to visit someone, then I have to go to chicago in order to generate realism and authenticity, I find absurd. On the other hand, if you're going to write an entire series set in Chicago, it might be helpful to at least dig out a st...

Re: Writer's research forums ?

I love films. I love my old hometown of London. If I got upset when films set in London get London “wrong”, I would never watch any films set in London. Well you would be distracted if the writer placed Big Ben a couple of miles down the Thames. There is a balance to be had here surely :) Crime wri...

Re: Writer's research forums ?

I think “research” has become an unctuous and unthinking meme and mantra. Fashionable for writers to reflect in the glory of their tireless “research”, as if “research” alone gives their works credibility. In isolation, it never does. I wholeheartedly agree with this if we replace 'research' with '...
