Re: Wish list: Setting "Paste" behavior in Preferences

I really want this feature, not just in Scrivener, but in life ... all software should do this. I find myself wanting to match the formatting of what I'm pasting into 99% of the time. That's got to be true for everyone on the planet, right? Not only should preferences allow setting this option, but ...

Re: Who want a Linux release version?

I'm a bit confused by Gregladen's point about treating scenes as files. Isn't this already the case (in /Files/Docs)? The scenes don't have friendly names, and of course they're in .rtf. Personally I wouldn't want to edit them in vi, but I believe there's an .rtf plugin for vim if that's your bag. ...

Re: Who want a Linux release version?

I would pay for it. Having said that, yes, the current version needs to be fixed up a bit. That is clearly what the developers would want to do, that is why the current version is Beta, etc. But there are other things to consider. Many regular Linux desktop users work hard to never pay for anything....

Re: Who lives in the rarefied air of portrait/vertical monitors?

I worked for a while (in grad school) as the assistant to a very famous journalist. He wrote everything on an old manual typewriter, and I used a beat up old computer in my office. Sitting at his desk, though, was a (for then) pretty high tech computer with one of those early vertical monitors, whic...

Re: Scrivener Lite; i.e. Textwrangler:BBEdit

A coffee dispenser would be awfully nice! If it had an espresso option, of course. But seriously, this is actually a suggestion I myself would never use. I really mean it as a marketing tool, to expand the sue of Scrivener, which all of us Scrivener users would indirectly benefit from. I think there...

Anagram server

One thing I find myself doing a lot is going to an internet anagram server in order to generate a name or term from some other name or term, so historians and literature professors of the future can muse about whatever I was thinking when I wrote my novels. Once they are regularly assigned for all s...

Glossary-Spellcheck-ByProject-Transferable/linkable

I've searched around and haven't quite found the same request, but there is a fair amount of discussion. Sometimes it is hard to tell what people need, so I maybe redundant here, apologies in advance. When spell checking I want to add words (real time or in batch) that I've made up for my manuscript...

Scrivener Lite; i.e. Textwrangler:BBEdit

There has been discussion of lite versions for tablets, etc. I'm suggesting a lite version for the desktop. Scrivener Lite would have the binder, text editor, and compile It would not have an outliner (hey, the binder does that already), a corkboard, or metadata. Scrivener Lite would actually be a g...

Autocompile + Simple Tablet Version

An autocompile idea has already been suggested and there is some talk about this. For me, the idea is to have a specific manuscript always exist as an ebook version so I can go through it on that context if I feel like it (or ignore it for a time). But simply autocompiling is not enough. Here is the...

Publisher's/Editors version of Scrivener

This is a very unformed idea, but the reasoning behind it is simple. It would be nice if agents, editors, and publishers simply accepted (a version of) manuscripts in scrivener format. That would cut out a lot of work and eliminate the problem of having post-Scrivener production versions of manuscri...

Submission Database

When it is time to submit a manuscript to agents or publishers, things can get complicated. It would be nice to have a system for helping manage this process built in. I got this idea when I used Scrivener as a database to manage all the submissions to a bunch of agents, using scrivener "scenes...

Copy.com cloud service (dropbox alternative)

There is a cloud alternative called "copy" (which is a horrible name ... try searching for it on Google, or on this forum for that matter!) A lot of people like it for reasons such as you get more free space, their referral program is better than Dropbox (I have 3.5t of space from that!) a...

Course Syllabus

I searched for "Syllabus" and found none, and I searched for "course" and of course I found many but not THAT kind of course. So maybe this is an unmentioned idea. I am about to prepare two classes for this fall. I've not taught any classes since I discovered and started to use S...

Re: Word Count Target to reflective overage and underage

I want to second this idea. I do not write to fill an empty space, but rather, to meet a certain objective plus or minus. So, I'll have 12 sections (chapters, whatever) and I want them all to be the same length plus or minus, so my target may be 5K words per section, but 3.5K and 6K are all good. I ...

Project Notes Go Kafluie in OSX view of Linuxed File

I'm putting this under Linux because I think it relates to that OS rather than OS X, but the phenomenon was observed on my mac. This may be more for your amusement than anything else, but it could speak to some issue or another. I have a large complex file I've been using on my Mac. It has a project...
