Re: Implementation of hyperlinks in Scrivener's references panel

Why would the alternative be dumping everything into the top level Research as a “bucket”? Why not sort that stuff into topical folders, give them keywords so that relational searching can be done, etc.? I agree it wouldn't make sense to use the top level of the Research folder as a bucket. My rtf ...

Re: Implementation of aliases in Scrivener

Thank you for your knowledgeable explanation. I had noticed the different behaviors but the different concepts weren't clear to me. If hardlinks are different to aliases, I wonder it there is a command line equivalent to the CMD+l keys combination. That has really changed the topic of my question to...

Re: Implementation of hyperlinks in Scrivener's references panel

Thank you for your reply. I will first address one of the issues. If you copy the direct internal file link to DTP, the trade-off is that although you can view it more nicely in Scrivener, as you point out, the URL may very likely get broken as you continue to use DTP. So that's the trade-off with t...

Re: Implementation of hyperlinks in Scrivener's references panel

You are right. Hyperlinks in Scrivener's reference pane do work when clicking on the icon. I was wrongly clicking the file name, as I do in DevonThink -where files have no icons. You are also correct about quickview. I've seen now that hyperlinks to files in Bookends cannot be viewed in DevonThink e...

Re: Implementation of hyperlinks in Scrivener's references panel

I see now that when I select the hyperlink and hit Cmd-L + Return, it opens the externally linked file. Yet, it would be much better being able to click or view the file with quicklook in the reference pane, the same as it is now with file paths. If possible.

Implementation of hyperlinks in Scrivener's references panel

Hello, Path links (file:////) are not only clickable but can be directly viewed with quicklook in the references panel. I have noticed that hyperlinks (x-devonthink-item://) are clickable whithin the body of a document, but not so in Scrivener's references panel. Since that panel is the right place ...

Re: Ability to Grab a reference URL when clipping web page

Hi, Because of the lack of this feature, instead of Scrivener's service, I use a bookmarklet for clipping text with url and date. It involves a few more steps than the service would, but less than manual clipping. Once the dialog comes out, cmd+c should be pressed to copy the selected text. Here is ...

Re: Scapple Beta - New Users Please Read

Thanks for your help, Bob. I've checked it but it seems of no use to me either because it places all notes in line, one below another, without attention to their hierarchical connections. If it can be combined with other distribution/alignment commands to achieve something different, I don't know ho...

Re: Scapple Beta - New Users Please Read

I finally get it, thanks. I was not using Scapple for headings but for full quotations. I was hoping to use Scapple's nice capability to split imported text into multiple notes as a simple and polished alternative to http://www.docear.org, the academic literature suite. But I understand now that thi...

Re: Scapple Beta - New Users Please Read

Aligning and distributing are quite flexible and powerful but not automatic. 1 Select the anchor note, the one to which others selected will be aligned. 2 CMD-Click to select the notes to be aligned to your anchor. 3 Right-Click to select the type of alignment - by border or by mid-point. 4 Distrib...

Re: Scapple Beta - New Users Please Read

I puzzled over the screenshots and I think the expectation is that align wouldn't actually align---but create a flowchart? Kind of like how in OmniGraffle Thanks for your reply. I am actually looking forward to use Scapple for mind mapping. I would use it prior to writing longish texts in Scrivener...

Re: Scapple Beta - New Users Please Read

I attach captures of the outcomes of the distribute/auto-fit functions in Scapple It looks like what you want is to select the notes and choose Align > Left Edges, then Distribute > Vertically. Have you tried what you recommended me? The second image from top to bottom is the outcome from doing jus...

Re: Scapple Beta - New Users Please Read

I attach captures of the outcomes of the distribute/auto-fit functions in Scapple and of one of the many automatic layouts of yEd -since this is the app I am using now. I do prefer the simplicity of Scapple if it provided one automatic outcome not as sophisticated as yEd's yet unmuddled. As for the ...

Re: Scapple Beta - New Users Please Read

Hi Keith, Surely I am new to Scapple but none of its realignment capabilities came out with anything I could use without further manual correction. I wouldn't expect as many sophisticated outcome options as yEd (here is just one of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTasbZ1QRK4) but I will expect...
