Re: eSellerate eCD: Another 9 Euros?

Actually I am pretty happy to live here - most shareware applications are paid is $ oder even CAD, which is very good for Germans :)
Especially the CAD is incredibly cheap^^

Re: Lord of The Rings

You don't have to learn Elvish per se, but it certainly helps :) One of my professors at university is fluent in Sindarin - weird^^ For me, LOTR is in its own league. It is not my favourite book, because that would be unjust to other books - there simply is no comparison. I'm not that old (22), so m...

Re: I find the word "whilst" exceedingly annoying...

*Whilst* I, too prefere "colour" over "color" (if only because it is a bit longer; I like long words - do you know the German "Donaudampfschiffahrtskapitänspatentanwärterscheinedruckereidirektorenschubladeneinlage"?) you should _really_ get to know the kind of English t...

Re: The status of the next update and 2.0

No blacklash from me, either :) I am, as 99% of SC users, currently working with 1.12beta and so far it has been rock solid and absolutely brilliant. When 2.0 comes out, I will be more than happy to shell out my 20 bucks. But: I do not agree with the call to raise the price of Scrivener. I am a stud...

Re: Music fonts

For writing music I would suggest using a dedicated Scorewriter such as Sibelius or Finale. Both applications allow you to export the scores as image files which can be dragged and dropped into Scrivener. That's what I do :)

Re: It's no use, we'll just get ripped off

I'm a student myself (Musicology and Anglophone Languages) and I must say I'm quite outrated on the prices of textbooks, too. There is just no real reason why a 100 page reader printed on very bad paper in black and white with ink fading when one single sunbeam touches it has to cost 10€. The profes...

Re: A Windows version, pretty please?

The following is NOT intended as an insult: I'm always quite astonished as of the number of Windows users wanting a port. In my opinion, mac os and windows applications are so different from each other that (for me) it is simply impossible to like a mac application if you are a windows user and vice...

Re: Download and install issue

Interlok Extension is an application for verifying the legality of an application. It is used by companies like Digidesign in conjunction with the iLok security key for applications like Pro Tools. I use PT myself, but I never had any problems with installing Scrivener on the same machine. I recomme...

Re: What do you make music with?

The equipment I'm using is listed on http://novatlan-sound.de/studio/equipmentliste.php (in German!).
I simply love the combination of composing in Sibelius and recording in Logic.
In contrast to most people here, I do music for a living and writing as a hobby :)

Re: Music writing program for a university music student?

Yeah, there's a quaestion I can answer (I'm a music student myself and work as a freelance composer). As said before it really depends on whether you want to do score notating (ie writing notes) or sequencing (ie recording actual music). For sequencing, I recommend Logic Pro (or Express, depending o...

Re: Lock current work

Unfortunately, I can't use the login screen since its sometimes necessary to have the desktop accessible to other users, but NOT Scrivener.
The Keychain method may work, I will test this. Nevertheless, a simple "enter password to unlock Scrivener" would be both convenient and easy.

Lock current work

Hi! I'm working quite a lot during my free time at university. Sometimes I have to leave my laptop for a few seconds. Would it be possible to include a "screen lock" feature in Scrivener so that people can not read what I'm writing at the moment? This is what I mean: When pressing a keyboa...

Re: feature suggestions

I use SmartBackup for my Backups. Its set via iCal so backup at 8 PM every day and it works great :) SO maybe this could be a solution for you. In my experience, Time Machine is quite useless. It's bloatware, unbelievably slow and tends to corrupt files. So I ditched it two days after installing Leo...
