Re: Formatting "active comment" in Inspector?

I've just checked and I think it may be tied to whether you keep the Editors light or not — if the Editor is in Dark Mode as well, I get the blue line.... Thanks. I am able to get a blue highlight around a comment if I click on comment in the inspector (but then the linked text isn't really highlig...

Re: Formatting "active comment" in Inspector?

Thanks so much. I am using Big Sur, updated OS and Scrivener. Great thinking, but alas it did not change anything. My comment boxes are yellow in Dark Mode and the highlighting is a thin thin brown. I tried changing system preferences to blue, but nothing changed. Take a look a the example I made: S...

Formatting "active comment" in Inspector?

When revising text in the Main Editor, I typically have the Inspector Pane open to the Comments tab. I usually have a whole stack of comments linked to various words in the editor text as notes to myself for when I re-write. In the previous version of Scrivener it was easy to click on text in the ed...

Re: Exclude file types in compile?

When you say "file types", are you referring to documents that have a "document type" assigned to them? No, I meant the jpeg (or whatever file type it is) that I paste into the document notes in the Inspector. Regardless, instead of keeping your notes in your draft folder, consi...

Re: Exclude file types in compile?

..., instead of using the Notes metadata, you could put the images in one or more "notes" subdocuments, and include/exclude those as needed. Thanks! I like writing in Composition Mode and having Inspector window open on Notes to be able to look at the images while describing them--so subd...

Exclude file types in compile?

I know this is a pretty obscure question, but I put revision thoughts/plans in the notes of each document. I also paste images in the notes (pictures found online that look the way the I imagine the scene) since there is only one spot available for an image on the text index card. I created a custom...

Re: Customizing the Editor - no style VS creating manuscript style and a margins question

Thanks all.

Even though I knew that the Editor view and how the text is Compiled are independent, I think I reflexively assumed that margins as seen in the Editor on the Ruler DID effect output. It helps to know they do not.

Customizing the Editor - no style VS creating manuscript style and a margins question

Question on how others work in Scrivener. I like viewing my Editor in standard manuscript format while writing. In version 3 is it best to set preferences such that "main text editing for new documents" is how I like it (New Roman, 12 pt, double space, etc) and thus use "no style"...

Re: White spaces appeared throughout my manuscript! SOLVED!

Okay, I am a total idiot. I must have accidentally hit a key combo and turned on page view--looks like it may have happened when trying to take a screenshot. Anyway, I have my settings in Page View such that there is no indication of being in Page View or where page breaks fall, so I thought there w...

White spaces appeared throughout my manuscript!

I have a 400K manuscript. Most of the text is not assigned a style. I decided to create a "Manuscript Style" for viewing in the Editor. I created it and assigned it to only one paragraph as a test. I realized that I had wrongly created a character style instead of a paragraph style so I del...

Re: Feature request: revision targets

You probably addressed this in your response--to be honest I couldn't follow some of the tech specifics you went into--but here is the "experience" that would be helpful. I've written a 95K draft of a manuscript. Now I want to revise that manuscript on some kind of schedule. Let's say I wa...

Feature request: revision targets

I love using the target features for word counts when drafting. I wish I could set targets for revision too: basically count the number of altered words, a progress bar for the entire draft as you move through and either accept or revise the text.

Re: Remove & edit tabs in lists?

Thanks. I suspect I need to update my old school thinking in that I format all my text as a standard manuscript--essentially not making the distinction between on screen appearance and compile. Still stuck in word processor habits/mentality. Is learning MultiMarkdown worth learning for most writers-...

Re: Remove & edit tabs in lists?

Amber: Thanks so much for response. I opened older computer and played with lists in Scrivener 2 and you are correct. I don't know why I hadn't noticed that first tab in lists before. Now I can't stop seeing it. In Scrivener 2 I was able to easily slide the tab marks and get the list to align left a...
