Re: Customizing the Editor - no style VS creating manuscript style and a margins question

Thanks all.

Even though I knew that the Editor view and how the text is Compiled are independent, I think I reflexively assumed that margins as seen in the Editor on the Ruler DID effect output. It helps to know they do not.

Customizing the Editor - no style VS creating manuscript style and a margins question

Question on how others work in Scrivener. I like viewing my Editor in standard manuscript format while writing. In version 3 is it best to set preferences such that "main text editing for new documents" is how I like it (New Roman, 12 pt, double space, etc) and thus use "no style"...

Re: White spaces appeared throughout my manuscript! SOLVED!

Okay, I am a total idiot. I must have accidentally hit a key combo and turned on page view--looks like it may have happened when trying to take a screenshot. Anyway, I have my settings in Page View such that there is no indication of being in Page View or where page breaks fall, so I thought there w...

White spaces appeared throughout my manuscript!

I have a 400K manuscript. Most of the text is not assigned a style. I decided to create a "Manuscript Style" for viewing in the Editor. I created it and assigned it to only one paragraph as a test. I realized that I had wrongly created a character style instead of a paragraph style so I del...

Re: Feature request: revision targets

You probably addressed this in your response--to be honest I couldn't follow some of the tech specifics you went into--but here is the "experience" that would be helpful. I've written a 95K draft of a manuscript. Now I want to revise that manuscript on some kind of schedule. Let's say I wa...

Feature request: revision targets

I love using the target features for word counts when drafting. I wish I could set targets for revision too: basically count the number of altered words, a progress bar for the entire draft as you move through and either accept or revise the text.

Re: Remove & edit tabs in lists?

Thanks. I suspect I need to update my old school thinking in that I format all my text as a standard manuscript--essentially not making the distinction between on screen appearance and compile. Still stuck in word processor habits/mentality. Is learning MultiMarkdown worth learning for most writers-...

Re: Remove & edit tabs in lists?

Amber: Thanks so much for response. I opened older computer and played with lists in Scrivener 2 and you are correct. I don't know why I hadn't noticed that first tab in lists before. Now I can't stop seeing it. In Scrivener 2 I was able to easily slide the tab marks and get the list to align left a...

Remove & edit tabs in lists?

When I apply a list to left-justified text, the bullets/numbers are indented with each line having a tab at the start of the line. How can I edit this? In Scrivener 2, I could have left justified bullets but now the lists are shifted over to the right that first tab stop. If I delete the tab stop th...

Setting picture vs Synopsis as default for Inspector?

Is there a way to set the picture instead of the synopsis as default in the Inspector? I place pictures there that are meant to prompt me to remember details to write about, but I often forget they are there because the synopsis is the default...and Inspector doesn't remember what I last had showing...

See Level designation in the Binder

Other then "eyeing" the indent in the Binder, it would be great to be able to know where a folder or text file sits in the nesting. Is that a Level 2 or Level 2+? Could that be revealed in the Binder as rollover, "get info", or in the Editor window next to the title? Also, when y...

Re: Feedback Wanted: How do you structure your Scriv projects?

Related to this structuring question, I have worked with many many writers who use Scrivener (teaching workshops) and it seems to me that there are two basic "approaches" to structuring their manuscripts: 1) Text files as chapters --in which case they have a manuscript folder with a column...

Re: Share a file WITHOUT sharing global customization?

Thanks. Convert is a nifty trick...and I am glad to know what those marks before the formatting presets mean--and that I can remove them by refining the preset.

Magic. All good here!
