Re: Considering iOS for Scriv. How do YOU use it?

The reason they are becoming ‘more frequently heard’ is because the IOS version hasn’t been updated since December 2017. They are heard because people actually do want someone to know that yes, they are frustrated at that, and that yes, not being able to compile to mobi on the ipad, not having scriv...

Re: Ipad 32gb or Ipad Air 3 64gb?

Here’s a vote for the pencil! I looooooovvvvvvve this thing!!! I have the iPad Pro 12.9. So, a different device, but the same principle. I’d be very surprised if you didn’t love the pencil. I tend to use it most for three scenarios: 1/ Drawing/Doodling in Procreate - May not be your thing. But then,...

Re: Feature Request: More visible/accessible Word Counts

Awesome. Well done you on the two novel front!

Have you made any adjustments to how you use it on a PC/Mac to how you use it on the iPad?

(Good idea on the word count front by the way).

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

I totally get where popcornflix is coming from. I sense no aggression from him. Simply exasperation that whatever he says Lunk seems to wish to be antagonistic. Clearly an 11 inch or 12.9 inch iPad Pro are extremely capable devices. The program is called ‘Scrivener’. Is it really too much to ask to ...

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

There are clearly significant changes. https://developer.apple.com/ios/whats-new/ PencilKit is a new framework that could clearly be applied to Scivener IOS, as well as CloudKit and Multiple UI Instances (and probably others in that list) To pretend that the version of Scrivener on IPadOS is hampere...

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

I suppose I shouldn't speak for anyone else, but I don't want the iOS version of Scrivener to come to the Mac. I want the missing features of the Mac version of Scrivener to come to the iPad. Why can't I have the same compile options available on the iPad? Why can't I have scrivenings? Why can't I ...

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

I read somewhere that Apple are planning on making it obligatory for apps to be able to run two side by side versions after IOS13/Ipados has been released. So, if Scrivener still wants to be available on the App Store, then it will have to offer this. I think this ‘requirement’ is because big compan...

Re: Does Scrivener Support Apple Pencil Writing?

The bad news is that myscript Stylus (the keyboard in that video) has been pulled from the app store. What's left is Mazec keyboard ( https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mazec/id943711253?mt=8&app=itunes ) and Writepad I ( https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/writepad-i-handwriting-to-text/id363618389?m...

Re: Considering iOS for Scriv. How do YOU use it?

Two apps you might want to explore are LiquidText and CardFlow, alongside Scrivener IOS.. LiquidText https://apps.apple.com/us/app/liquidtext/id922765270 allows you to scan in notes etc that you have (or the text of the novel if you like), and then write notes next to them. Quite good for an edit. (...

Re: What does iOS 13 mean for Scrivener iOS and iCloud Sync?

Seems like the latency on the pencil has been improved a lot as well in the new iPadOS https://twitter.com/stroughtonsmith/status/1136821044994609152 Not sure if the new PencilKit add-on that Apple makes available to developers would mean apple pencil functionality could be integated into Scrivener ...

Re: What does iOS 13 mean for Scrivener iOS and iCloud Sync?

Exactly. It's a forum. Discussion is kinda the point... I suspect that lots of the limitations have been because of the limitations of IOS. The last update to the IOS Scrivener app was on the 6th December 2017 - So over 18 months ago... So no-one is exactly rushing to update the app. But that's prob...

Interesting relevant article here - https://medium.com/@gregbd/how-i-transformed-my-writing-workflow-with-two-apps-and-ipad-pro-apple-pencil-726da71ca26 Think I may have been harsh on My Script Nebo. Re: Writing a Novel on 12.9 Ipad Pro?

Not sure how good the normal windows OCR software solutions are? https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/best-ocr-software Am toying with the idea of scanning the pages to pdfs, and then trying running them through one of these. (PC is on the blink at the moment, so can't do it at the moment) And then ema...

Re: Writing a Novel on 12.9 Ipad Pro?

Little update... Tried out various handwriting apps. The 'best' so far is Nebo. But it's not very good. You have to watch what it thinks you are writing like a hawk, as you write it, and then correct it. Do-able. But practically speaking it totally throws you out of your writing mode, and into analy...
