Re: Does the "Hero's Journey" Writing Approach Apply to Military Techno-Thriller / Historical Novels?

I think the thing that some of us miss, notwithstanding the constant references to Blake Snyder's scriptwriting failures in an effort to discredit him, is that structure is a road map. Haul out the map. Plot a course from A to B. Yawn. Boring road trip. Sally forth. Flat tire. Spare with no air. Low...

Re: Affinity Publisher! It’s alive! ALIVE!

Fortunately, I am one who has no need whatsoever for the Adobe tax. I find I can do what I need to to with the Affinity Suite of programs, which are now on a Black Friday sale (November 2020). I highly recommend all three, if only for the pricing. If you can only spring for two, I suggest Photo if y...

Re: Does the "Hero's Journey" Writing Approach Apply to Military Techno-Thriller / Historical Novels?

Yes, Ms Brody broadened my horizons considerably as well. I certainly had it all down before I found that book, but she sure helped with the overall big picture. She made me even more comfortable with my production methods, to say the least. If I may be so bold (not wanting to flog a dead horse, in ...

Re: Does the "Hero's Journey" Writing Approach Apply to Military Techno-Thriller / Historical Novels?

I already have two motion pictures to my credit, one already on Netflix and the other in production with LionsGate

And I'm offering up advice to you? It would appear that you may have more than a little advice for many of us here.

Keep on writing.

Re: Does the "Hero's Journey" Writing Approach Apply to Military Techno-Thriller / Historical Novels?

Save the Cat by Blake Snyder has been mentioned. He wrote it for screenplays, but it's about structure. Whether a screenplay or a fiction novel, you need to learn structure. Inside. Outside. Backwards. Forwards. If you don't know structure, you will be doomed to 10 years before the re-writing mast. ...

Re: Affinity Publisher! It’s alive! ALIVE!

Well, I answered my own question, above. I purchased all three of the Affinity products, and I am, to say the least, extremely happy. As regards Publisher, I had some difficulty learning it, but with protracted viewing of online videos from a variety of Publisher experts, I persevered. I produced a ...

What happened to the keyboard shortcut keys?

Edited to add that I got it sorted out, finally. Ya know, I just want software to work. Especially software that I've been using for many, many years. I don't want to friggy-dig around with sorting out keyboard issues. I just want it to w-o-r-k. My keyboard is useless but for typing text. What in go...

Re: Has Windows Version 3 Been Scrapped?

I can't comment on the Mac/Dell battle, but here is my experience with a Dell 5593 purchased in January 2020: First thing I did was download the Dell 5593 service manual. Everything is user-replaceable, and I mean everything. It even has a vacant drive bay for another SSD, which I immediately instal...

That's a Starbucks in that header image? Whoa. I'da thought it was some sort of Rube Goldberg imagery. Oh, wait. I think it is.
