Re: Spinning beach ball cursor

Other than ensuring that you haven't run out of RAM, one potential fix here is to increase the Auto Save setting, which I think is set to 2 seconds by default. When I had a similar problem with a largeish project, I changed it to 15 seconds and all was well.

Re: The Binder Appearance in the Updated Version

I thought of that , but even if you have no collections, you should still see tabs for Search Result and Binder. Of course, hoisting the binder shouldn't leave blank space either, so no harm in checking that option too!

Re: The Binder Appearance in the Updated Version

I updated yesterday and amn't seeing the problem you're describing. Have you by any chance enabled the hoist binder option? It doesn't sound like that, but might be worth a look. Go to View -> Outline and select Unhoist binder if visible. If that isn't the case, I wonder would a simple restart of yo...

Re: Strange issue in Scrivenings mode

As an additional point of info, it doesn't matter whether I am navigating to folders or documents, or hierarchical level. The issue is present in all documents/folders. I have reset project display settings (even though it is present in all projects) and restarted my laptop. No change unfortunately.

Strange issue in Scrivenings mode

I've attached a screen shot of a strange issue I'm seeing when navigating using the binder and with the editor set to Scrivenings. For context, I am navigating using collapsed folders (Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc), though each folder has multiple child documents and folders within. As you can see, whe...

Re: Bombarded with alternatives

I'm not sure I fully understand your post. Are you asking if Scrivener has a viable business model? Or are you asking for a development road map? If you're afraid that Scrivener will suddenly go out of business, isn't that a risk with all software?! Even from the big corporations. Just look at the n...

Looks to me like you are replying to a sophisticated troll as there is a hidden link in the OP's message. If you read it fully you'll see a reference to GPS that is completely out of context. The link is embedded there.

Re: WIndows 3 Release: My Thoughts

Not sure if you're aware of the beta @rivermonster, but just in case: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=40621 Manuskript looks very very ... familiar :D . Interesting to note that it has been in beta/development for almost 4 years. Making software like that must be di...

The best way for users to keep track of the bugs that are addressed/fixed is to check the list included in this thread with each beta release:

Re: 'Live' pane in split screen

Layouts definitely change the behaviour of the split editor, in terms of the Binder Selection Affects setting. I typically have Binder Selection Affects set to Right Editor Only. However, if I use the Three Pane Outline or Dual Navigation layouts and then revert back to default and then split the ed...

Re: Text Tidying > Replace Multiple Spaces for footnotes

Thanks for the explanation Ioa, much appreciated. To answer your second question first, since it leads directly to a solution: yes. This command is one of those that does not require an explicit selection, and when lacking one, it will impact all visible text in the editor—which in the case of Scriv...

Re: 12 part TV series... Keeping it together.

If you're working using Scrivener on a Mac (as your profile indicates), then you'll get better support if you post in the Mac section of the forum. especially if you're looking for advice on how to use Scrivener, or help with particular functions.

Text Tidying > Replace Multiple Spaces for footnotes

Text Tidying > Replace Multiple Spaces with Single Spaces is a very handy tool. I'm wondering if it's possible to use the command on a selection of more than one footnote? Currently, if I'm in a Scrivenings session and select all footnotes (as one might do if converting all to default formatting), t...
