@Dragontoe, please note that the two posters above are just a tiny fraction of the forum's membership. In my experience the posts above are not representative of the overall friendly vibe found on these forums.

Re: Version: 2.9.9.16 Beta (1183694) 64-bit - BUGS

Happy to help. The only etiquette expected is to be polite, even if some of the reactions to your suggestions were not! One other reason that occurs to me for never being afraid to post your requests or suggestions is that you might learn of an alternative method for achieving the same thing that is...

Re: Version: 2.9.9.16 Beta (1183694) 64-bit - BUGS

I think constant requests and (polite) consistent pressure is one of the best, tried and tested ways of getting results. It doesn't matter if it has been slated for future or not. Constant requests will keep it high on priority, if nothing else. In terms of changes made to existing software, this c...

Re: Scrivener for Windows

Nobody contended that. I read the two below quotes as contending just that. I may have been mistaken, and if so apologies to Jaysen and OwenKelly. I would respectfully suggest that these people are likely to be disappointed. Almost all software worth having gets regular updates, and my guess is tha...

Re: Scrivener for Windows

You may have limited experience, then. Under the hood, a lot more software than you think is doing uninstall/install updated version (all wrapped behind a pretty installer routine that hides it from you) rather than trying to patch existing binaries/files. As long as the installer knows to save/rea...

Re: Adjusting background colours in Inspector

That's it, thank you! One more colour issue that I haven't been able to figure out is how to change the colour of the footnote tile itself. I don't see a way to change that in the Textual Marks section. The manual (pp 463–4) leads me to believe that adjusting the colour in Appearance -> Textual Mark...

Adjusting background colours in Inspector

I'm trying to change the background colour for the Comments and Footnotes tab in the Inspector, and can't for the life of me figure it out. I'm currently using Dark appearance Solarised Dark theme, which I really like. I've kept the editors as light coloured. The main issue is that the background fo...

Re: Transfer scrivener project file to new computer

I was convinced to buy the M1 Air instead of the MBP by the various reviews – I can't remember the last time that I saw a laptop get such universal praise. My previous 3 laptops were 13" MBPs. Even with an upgrade in RAM (16GB) and storage (512GB), it wasn't much more expensive than than the en...

Re: Scrivener for Windows-just not good enough

Meanwhile in the rest of the software universe new products and product category's have been developed, launched and revised in the time this has been going on. And on. And on. And while one might accept that there is something super magical about this code that makes it impossible to develop on a ...

Re: Transfer scrivener project file to new computer

I have a related query, same scenario (new laptop, will be erasing and trading in the old and am transferring over Scrivener projects). In terms of backups and preferences, is the best way to transfer these to the new laptop to copy the contents of the Scrivener folder in Kinsey > Library > Applicat...

Re: Scrivener Won't Open

I think you’ll be fine to just keep using the test build. Whatever tweaks Keith has made in that will be rolled out in another update whenever that’s ready. Probably quite soon. I remember using a “custom” build like that a few years ago that Keith sent me to deal with a footnotes issue. Worked fine...
