Re: How to collapse chapter titles, and move any section to another place in the doc

This is very easily done, but you might have to break up long stretches of text into smaller, discrete sections that can then be dragged and dropped in the Binder or other outline views. Have a quick read of Chapter 1 of the manual ('Philosophy' - it's only two pages long) for a brief sense of what'...

Re: Cursor changes position when scrolling in Scrivenings mode

I have only just begun using WinScriv, and hadn't noticed this behaviour until now. I have Scrivener open on my Mac (3.1.4) and Windows (1.9.14) at the moment - I can confirm that, on the Mac , scrolling through a Scrivenings session with the Trackpad/Mouse does not move the cursor focus. Nor would ...

Re: Editor windows not expanding fully - after Catalina Update

Are you using the latest version of Scrivener, 3.1.4? Catalina introduced some visual bugs, some details in the linked thread, as well as a link to download 3.1.4, which I think solves the problem.

I think that message is recommending that you deactivate Scapple on the old computer, not that you activate, deactivate and then reactivate it on the new!

Re: Is Scrivener 2 incompatible with MacOS Catalina?

Apple have ended support for 32-bit apps from Catalina onwards. As Scrivener 2 is a 32-bit app, it will not run on Catalina. For that reason alone it's probably worth updating to Scrivener 3, in addition to the fact that Scriv 3 is much better!

Re: Is Scrivener Actually Worth It???

Scrivener offers a 30 day free trial (that's 30 days' actual use, rather than 30 consecutive days). Most, if not all, people here will tell you that Scrivener is most certainly worth the investment. The best thing to do is download the software and start using it to see whether it fits your needs. H...

Re: Data loss during transition

I do remember my posts in the other thread. I can live with the fact that I wasn't able to get across the necessities of my daily work, but then you will also have to live with the fact that anyone concluding that working with a full USB stick is part of my "preferred" work habits comes a...

Re: Data loss during transition

Just in case you’re unaware, tiho_d is the developer of Scrivener for Windows. I read The second half of his post as referring to the discussion in the other thread as a point of fact, not as a derogatory reference.

Re: Possibly Lost Everything

If I'm reading bjnick's posts correctly, s/he is trying to work on the same project using both a laptop and a desktop. Carbonite is a backup/file recovery service (as far as I know), so while a very useful service to have in a backup strategy , it's not strictly relevant to the specific problem of m...

Re: Possibly Lost Everything

I know it's probably pointing out the obvious, but backing up and saving are two different things. When you select the Back up To command, it is most likely zipping the project – Scrivener won't open a zipped project. That might be part of the issue? I can't otherwise help, as I don't use flashdrive...

Re: Scrivenings questions

This could work for me... ...if there was a way to replicate the draft tree structure in the research folder AUTOMATICALLY. ...if the actual items in the binder could be symbolic links (so I could store the actual files in the research tree, but still maintain the current convenience of having ever...

Re: Scrivenings questions

While I can't speak for anyone else, I store 'meta-information' outside the draft folder because I find it easier to have work in progress text discrete from research material. I suspect that most users of Scrivener would be similar. Brainstorming/random thoughts will often start out in the Draft Fo...
