Re: which would be best for Scrivener: a new mac or iPad?

Over the time, its shell got bent. It's like something exploded inside and it looks egg shaped now, you can't close the lid. I have no idea why, first time it happens with a Mac. Since I use it as a desktop machine I just don't care. This sounds a little like the battery has warped; if so it’s pote...

Re: WORDS ARE KING to writers - THEY ARE OUR #1 PRIORITY!

One of my favourite book series of all time, up to and including (chronologically speaking) The Wind through the Keyhole. I thought the last three were pretty rushed and poor in comparison. But what an ending.

Re: unable to verify your activation for more then two months

As of Monday this week, every time I start up Scrivener I get a notice saying that my license is invalid and that Scrivener will now revert to trial mode. Which it promptly does by quitting. When I then restart, I have to re-enter my license info. Every time. I am using the latest version of WinScri...

Re: Extreme lag when opening texts within a Scrivener Document

A chapter with 75–100 footnotes is indeed going to slow things down. I suppose there are two solutions Mark I have to say my experience is very different. I have just finished an academic book that, when compiled, is 87,269 words (115,000+ when footnotes are included),with c. 600 footnotes and tota...

As @Lifyre said, I believe this is to do with different word counting procedures. See: viewtopic.php?p=272280#p272280

Delighted to see that! The 'first' RC1 was released in August 2019. Great to see this big step, hoping for a full release soon so that I can finally download and use WinScriv.

Have I gone mad?

You’re not mad. RC1 was released in August of last year. That name was, evidently, a touch optimistic!

Re: Text gets invisible

If you have several individual Binder documents with 8-9 k words, or even 15-20 k words (!), why would you need scrivenings mode? Scrivenings mode is meant to stitch together a large number of small documents so they look like one continuous document in the Editor. If your text is already a long co...

Re: Updating Scrivener to 64-bits app

It sounds as though your are using Scrivener 2. macOS Catalina ended support for 31-bit apps such as Scrivener 2, which means it's not compatible with Catalina and won't work. Your best bet is to upgrade to Scrivener 3 (released in November 2017), which is fully compatible with Catalina.

Re: Does Social Media know what I'm writing about?

I recently read about an experiment conducted by school kids (teenagers). They had two scripted conversations among themselves, one with their phones present in the middle of the group, and one with no phones present. The phones were idle for the entirety of the first conversation, just lying face d...

Re: Scrivener's manual - skim the fat

I consider Scrivener’s manual to be one of the best around, so I guess it’s a matter of perspective. I love the fact that it is nuanced and loaded with info. Some of the other software I use has frustratingly poor documentation. I’m glad Scrivener errs on the side of too much info. I should note tha...

Re: Drag Emails from Mail App into Research Folder

Any time I've tried to drag and drop an email into Scrivener's research folder (an admittedly rare occurrence), I've been met with an error notice. When I have had occasion to do this, I've saved the email as a PDF and then imported. Not ideal if you are planning to move a lot of emails.
