Re: Anyone using WinScriv under WINE …

If Windows licence purchase is an issue (I thought you already had Windows) then the options are .... (a) install Virtualbox on your Mac (b) install Ubuntu on VirtualBox (I would go for a version without bells and whistles) (c) install Scrivener (Linux) on Ubuntu VM. OR (a) create dual boot partitio...

Re: Anyone using WinScriv under WINE …

I don't have a Mac unfortunately. But as a VM is suggested in previous post .. perhaps try VirtualBox instead of Wine. http://its.yale.edu/how-to/installing-windows-macintosh-computer-using-virtual-box. You can either install Windows or Ubuntu as virtual machines on VirtualBox and then install Scriv...

Re: Is there some kind of trace function I can use with Scriv?

I'm not sure why terminal doesn't point to the source of the segmentation fault when Scrivener is closed .. possibly terminal is also closed when Scrivener is closed. Here is the rough python code I use to set and reset constants.py .. depending on whether the switch variable is "set" or &...

Re: Is there some kind of trace function I can use with Scriv?

If you are still seeing segmentation faults can I suggest the tip I found here .. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bzr-gtk/+bug/923824 i.e. temporarily patch /usr/share/pyshared/gobject/constants.py Note that while the patch is in use other Python 2.7 apps may not run. So after troubleshooting Scrivener f...

Re: linux beta expiry

Well I've now installed 1.6.1.1-beta ... I must have had 1.6.1-beta installed .. and I'm back in business.
I used Gdebi Package Installer for installing the deb.
Hopefully there will soon be a commercial supported release for linux.

Re: linux beta expiry

Thanks .. but I'll pass on that idea. I just need to understand why the disparity between "beta expired" and published expiry date December 2014. This happened without notice. Meanwhile I'll recover my files through Scrivener on wine. I think the time is nigh to develop a web version of Sc...

Re: linux beta expiry

I've now read that thread .. but notwithstanding the December 2014 expiry date ... another user has the same problem The only option is to press "okay." I'm assuming Expi is "expired" and that the window text is telling me to find the most recent beta edition, which I don't see a...

linux beta expiry

Today I tried to run Scrivener in my linux (Ubuntu 12.04 32bit) laptop. But to my dismay I saw the message as in attachment below. I have had no prior warning of beta expiry. How do I access my working Scrivener files to recover data? Is there a new linux beta released? If no, what is linux product ...

Re: Installing Scrivener on Ubuntu 13.04

I have version 1.5.3.1 beta (32 bit) 07 Feb 2013 running on my Ubuntu 12.04.

Do you have the latest beta?

I would uninstall previous older copies of Scrivener (after backing up your data).
Then try again.

Do a search using
$ which scrivener
and
$ which Scrivener

Re: Installing Scrivener on Ubuntu 13.04

Although the above terminal command should work ... you might find it easier to first install GDebi Package Installer on your Ubuntu installation. You can do that through Ubuntu Software Centre. Then menu .. Applications > System Tools > GDebi Package Installer and install your downloaded Scrivener ...

Re: auto convert url string into hyperlink

Can anyone explain how to just paste a url into a note and have it auto formatted into a clickable hyperlink .. without having to go through the Menu > Edit > Link workflow. I don't see any option for this .. but I may be overlooking something obvious. [postscript] Since I use Scrivener for technica...

auto convert url string into hyperlink

I'm sure I'm missing something fairly obvious since this is a basic requirement. I have Scrivener 1.5.3.1 (beta) on ubuntu 12.04. The question is quick pasting of url's or web hyperlinks in plain text files. If I copy and paste a url from a browser into a text file it is not auto converted to url. W...

Re: A Mostly Complete Guide to Installing Scrivener on Linux

GDebi Package Installer may help in manual installation of *.deb packages. If there is a freeze you will at least get a report.

Re: Automatically add text from index card to notepad?

Perhaps you could use http://www.autohotkey.com to write a macro for this purpose?

Search this Scrivener forum for other ideas for usage of AutoHotKey.

Re: Crashes out completely & frequently. No pattern discerned.

"Problem Event Name: APPCRASH" ... still seems to point to DEP .. but it's only a guess ... http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/46657-windows-explorer-repeatedly-crashes.html Can you try disabling DEP on Scrivener as in earlier link? [Later edit:] see simpler instructions here ......
