Re: Ready for a brand new workflow! Where do I start?

Thanks so much nontroppo and Katherine! It's all vaguely, slowly starting to come back to me. I couldn't find the post-processing stuff because I thought the format editor was the box that comes up when you select File==>Compile. Doh. So, can you tell me if I'm getting this right, finally? Scrivener...

Re: Ready for a brand new workflow! Where do I start?

That's great. I set up the sync with external folder thing, copied in some markdown files, and Scrivener imported them fine, and I've tested that updates work in both directions. So now I'm back to my original question about how to deal with markdown files in Scrivener. There are built in formats fo...

Re: Ready for a brand new workflow! Where do I start?

Thank you for the responses, Katherine. To your first, maybe I misunderstood this point: — This is a good approach to take if you prefer writing or editing in plain-text editors, as you can freely rotate text out and back into the Scrivener editor without fear of losing any formatting. I understood ...

Re: Ready for a brand new workflow! Where do I start?

I forgot how complicated and confusing I find Scrivener... Figure 3 — I created a Project ▸ Project Settings… ▸ Section Type called "Frontmatter", assigned this Section Type to 'Pandoc metadata', set 'Pandoc metadata' as Front Matter in the Compiler options, and then assigned it the AS-IS ...

Re: Ready for a brand new workflow! Where do I start?

I think what's confusing me is just that I can't find where to set up post-processing (as mentioned, for instance, here: https://github.com/iandol/scrivomatic#scrivomatic-post-processing-script). But I just found in the manual, Section 24.22, that it's only available in the direct sale version --- w...

Ready for a brand new workflow! Where do I start?

I just finished a long and long overdue paper for which I scraped together an insane workflow: Brainstorm, outline, and compose using roamresearch.com ==> Export to Roam's weird markdown ==> (Make complex changes in Vim if needed) ==> Git commit ==> Bash script ==> Perl script ==> Pandoc (with vario...

Re: Scrivener - MMD 3 - Latex: A beginner's guide

That sounds perfect.

And if it works, then it should be the biggest, loudest thing that anyone sees when they are searching for help working with Scrivener->MMD->LaTex.

I applaud you in advance.

Re: Scrivener - MMD 3 - Latex: A beginner's guide

Hmm. I left the support files (all the mmd .tex files) in the location they're supposed to go in (~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/mmd), and multimarkdown had no problem finding them. I modified them in place there and that worked fine. I've got Scrivener 2.2, so I don't know what the deal is with the meta...

Re: Can't figure out MMD to LaTex

McGruff's guide was the thing that finally helped me put all the pieces together, even though I think there are some wrong steps in it. I think what would have helped me could actually be a simple quick-start. Not a quick start to all the three systems, but to installing and using them together. Bas...

Re: Scrivener - MMD 3 - Latex: A beginner's guide

This is a wonderful guide. I haven't quite succeeded in generating a finished document yet, but I'm getting close. One weird thing I've noticed: I set up the metadata as you describe in Figure 4.2 and compile (and save my compile settings), and when I re-open the compile menu to compile again, the m...

Re: Can't figure out MMD to LaTex

Wow. At first glance it looks like exactly what I need. Unfortunately I guess it's not possible to do a one-page quick-start with this stuff. Since I only get odd moments to work on the book, which I try to divide judiciously between actual writing and pounding my head on a wall fiddling with techno...

Can't figure out MMD to LaTex

I'm having a terrible time figuring out how to print to PDF from MMD for my Scrivener document. I just tried using the Tutorial and got the same problem. The documentation seems to be really scattered and hard to follow. If there is one place to find step-by-step instructions for installing MMD and ...

Re: Share ideas

So, I ended writing a python script that slurps up a Scrivener-generated MMD file into a hierarchical data structure with all the pieces you might want it to have, and then it runs multimarkdown on each individual document, fixing links so they work across documents (which will end up as separate ht...
