Simple REGEX replacement fails

OS X 10.11.6 latest Scrivener I have document titles which contain "Monday" and "Sunday". I want to strip out the "day", leaving "Mon" and "Sun". I know that I can do this with two simple Project Replace operations, but I instead tried: Search: (Sun|...

Re: Resizing Tables

I copy and paste a lot of tables one-by-one from Nisus Writer Pro into Scrivener. I get best results if I set Scrivener's editor window to be very wide. The original tables are left-justified, but I don't know if that matters. Once in Scrivener, the resulting tables are usually quite readable, thoug...

Re: Finding Numbers

I improved the regular expressions above and shortened the comment. For those with some interest in regular expressions, take a look at the last regex. The number to be found is numeral "3". The expression is: (?<!(\d|\.))3(?!(\d|\.\d)) The first part (?<!(\d|\.))3 says find numerals "...

Re: Finding Numbers

I assume you mean "search for numbers". Open the Find window and in the drop-down menu at the bottom (below "ignore Case"), choose the last option "Regular Expression (RegEx)". The expression to find any digit whether a singleton or part of a multiple digit number is: \...

Re: lost text

If you had auto-save turned on (check the General pane in Preferences), then perhaps you can recover whatever was last saved. In the Finder, ctrl-click your Scrivener project and choose "Show Package Contents". Auto-saved stuff is inside the Files folder. See Page 529 of the User Manual.

Re: Group mode : brainstorming on corkboard without synopsis

The index cards and synopses are working exactly as designed; you just misunderstand what the they are intended to do. I suggest that you read the Scrivener User Manual Section 12.1. To quote the manual: Whatever you end up using them [the synopses] for, it is important to realise that they are sepa...

Re: 'Therefore' symbol incorrectly exports in .rtf

The compile to rtf exports ∴ fine for me with several fonts in OS X 10.6.8, whether I open the rtf in Nisus Writer Pro, TextEdit, Word 2011, or EagleFiler.

siskersey-

Keith asked you to mail the project, though the crash log will certainly help him too.

Re: Use TextMate as external editor

I recommend QuickCursor. According to http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/products/quickcursor
http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/products/quickcursor, QuickCursor works with TextMate (I use it with BBEdit) and will be coming to Apple's App Store.

Re: Problem saving error/crash on 2.0

The original file is being saved on a WebDAV drive, but that has never caused problems before.

Ioa's top post at viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5295 is probably relevant here.

Re: Tables

Here's advice I've posted elsewhere in the forum: " I create tables in Nisus Writer Pro and link them as document or project references. I paste the NWP tables into Scrivener as place holders but don't try to edit them there, and I replace them with the "real" tables after exporting t...

Re: How do I use Scrivener when I am not connected to the Net?

yazarim- Along the lines of Greg's suggestion, rooSwitch (roobasoft.com/rooSwitch) should allow you to have Scrivener on your drive and switch between two settings profiles on the drive, one for each machine. By hand, you will have to add the appropriate Mindvision Folder or, perhaps more specifical...

Re: Saving a second copy to work from

Rather than have multiple draft folders in one Scrivener project, I routinely have two or more projects, say "version 1" and one "version 2", open side by side. The newer project usually starts as a blank and I drag pieces from the binder of the older project as needed. Both Scri...

Re: Scrivener and bibdesk

I don't know how these work when writing with Scrivener, though I suspect at least the former should.

Scrivener is not yet scriptable, so the CiteInPages scripts will not work.
