Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

... in this case one person KB, ... there are much smaller outfits Smaller than one? Hah! :D No, my mistake. I was referring to Microsoft, Apple and Google, not L&L. The point is that small software houses have written their own text engines, so I don’t believe company size is necessari...

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

Why will people keep comparing Lit&Lat, and in this case one person KB, with Microsoft and Apple, with their large teams, huge bank balances and who program not only their private code for a Word and Pages, but also the underlying operating systems. That's a good point, but there are much small...

Re: iCloud Sync

The point I was trying to illustrate is that Dropbox is way more than just a sync service now with the Slack et al integration. If that is your problem with Dropbox, have you looked at the huge list of bloated things that iCloud handles? :) It sprawls as badly as iTunes. iCloud is a complicated and...

Re: iCloud Sync

I am, however, taking an honest evaluation on if keeping Dropbox makes sense for me with the improvements to iCloud. For me the big difference lies in reliability. My iCloud Drive stopped updating itself completely on my Macs in April last year. Apple didn’t know why and couldn’t fix it. Then it al...

Re: iCloud Sync

And I don't mind paying for software, but I really don't like subscriptions. I could buy a subscription for Dropbox, but only for my Scrivener projects, which would (in a way) make it subscription software, just to have a sync with the iOS version. Mmmm. Not sure. That’s a bit like saying my car’s ...

WWDC 2019

I thought it was great, though I think I heard six thousand sphincters tighten at the sight of a thousand dollar monitor stand.

Aside from that, a lot to look forward to.

Anything you’ll find helpful, Keith?

Scrivener IOS crash when trying to share an image.

G’morning! :)

This is repeatable (on my IPad Pro anyway)

I have documents that only contain single images. When I try to share the image by sending it to Files or the Photos app, Scrivener crashes (project remains undamaged).

If you have a crash like this, how do you retrieve the app logs?

Re: This is NOT an acceptable level of backwards compatibility (2 >3)

PS. Once you understand the structure of the new system (which takes a few minutes if you approach it with an open mind and try to forget version 2 compile) setting it up is easier and better. This is very good advice. I found the best approach was to start by creating fresh settings to get used to...

Re: Is Literature & Latte trying to force us to Mac's?

OCD is a debilitating condition that has many symptoms, and trivializing it to the point of "you used an apostrophe incorrectly" causes pain for people who really do suffer from the real thing, whether you intend it to or not. If you choose to be offended by an off-the-cuff remark, then p...

Re: Is Literature & Latte trying to force us to Mac's?

The apostrophe in the title is wreaking havoc with my OCD. If we're going to insist on that level of accuracy, merely wishing small details to be correct is *not* OCD. OCD is a debilitating condition that has many symptoms, and trivializing it to the point of "you used an apostrophe incorrectl...

Re: Name Generator like Windows please

I agree that the old generator had some advantages. Here's a trick I learned by accident: I was looking through the names and said one out loud to get a feel for it. The name appeared in the current document, as if by magic. Turns out I had turned on dictation by accident (fn fn). So, display your ...

Re: Random blank pages in PDF compile?

I'm seeing the same thing in PDFs and .docx compilations: a persistent blank page is being thrown in a couple of places where the text on the page completely fills up the previous page. I wondered if it were possible for Scrivener to do a final check for empty pages during compilation, though I imag...

Re: Recommendation to a Free Novel Writing Software: Manuskript

It's written in Python. Wow  That's impressively hard core. Why so? My developer friends say that Python is an exquisitely lovely and easy language to write meaningful code in. Oh, it is. I’ve done some my best work in Python. And when I look at it again six months later, I still understand ...
