Re: Social Media

Thanks again and sorry for getting back so late – I was busy writing a book. Now that the first draft is finished I've decided to bite the bullet and have created an Instagram account. I've decided to post images and maybe some quotes that transmit the vibe of the upcoming book, but nothing personal...

Re: Moving an existing project from Scrivener 3 to 2 and back to 3

Thanks a lot for your valuable hints! I did a test run and it works fine enough now for my purpose. Meanwhile, the space bar has started working again (sort of, just the left side). So I'll try and finish the first draft on the new laptop and get the repair done while wating to hear back from my edi...

Moving an existing project from Scrivener 3 to 2 and back to 3

Dear all, I have to bring my Macbook Pro 2017 in for repairs (yes, the keyboard ...), it could be away for up to two weeks. I'm working on a Scrivener project on a deadline. It's all set up in Scriv 3. I still have my mid 2009 Macbook Pro as a back up, it's on Mavericks and runs fine. Scrivener 2 is...

Sharing a text section / scene right from Scrivener

It's an idea for lazy bums like myself: I often mail scenes or text sections to editors / actors / producers by: Selecting the scene in the binder File -> Export -> Files I export as rtf, I locate the the file in the Finder I open Mail, attach the file, send the mail A »sharing« function to automati...

Just a quick thank you

Today, with no apparent reason, I feel like saying thank you for Scrivener. I've been using Scrivener since (I think) 2006, there was a »Gold Edition« if I remember correctly. Since then, I've written stage plays, screen plays, novels, newspaper and magazine articles, interviews, important correspon...

Re: Problem with importing websites after update Mac OS Mojave 10.14.4

Sorry to chime in as someone that is not affected (I'm still on Sierra, general Updatetophobia regarding Apple), but I work mostly offline and I have always thought that using webarchives is the workaround. Even when it works, it never works well (for offline purposes). I export the web page as PDF ...

Re: New document in top level folder always at bottom of list?

Hi AmberV, thanks a lot, the shortcut (that I didn't know) makes life much easier. The outliner column is a good thing, too (I have one for the draft, but not for the the research folder). Regarding getting used to a new way of thinking ... that's becoming harder and harder, a good sign that age is ...

New document in top level folder always at bottom of list?

Hi fellow writers, I hope the topic title is not too confusing. I've searched the forums & handbook, but couldn't find a solution. In the Binder: if I create a new document within a folder (or a new sub-folder within a folder) that new document (or sub-folder) is always created at the very end o...

Re: How to improve writing skills?

I like doing some experimental stuff from time to time: - if you touch type: turn the screen brightness all the way down and type a chapter without seeing what you're writing. Results can be interesting. - Go to to a place that is the opposite of what you usually need for writing. If you need a quie...

Re: Social Media

Thanks a lot for your input so far! @Devinganger: I think you absolutely nailed it with your comments on being consistent and genuine. And you're right: Basically, it all comes down to how much and what kind of contact a writer wants or needs with her or his readers. This is a tricky question: I lik...

Re: Disable ellipsis

It's in Settings -> Corrections -> Punctuation

uncheck: use smart dashes and ellipses in new projects

Hope that works.

Social Media

Dear fellow writers, I know, it's a bottomless pit and pandora's box at the same time, but I'm curious as to whether you are using social media at all and if which of the networks and in which way. I had a Facebook Account from 2007 until last year, but I never really enjoyed the platform and I don'...

Re: Is it possible to sync between MacOS and iOS without Dropbox?

Hi,

I was hesitant to use Dropbox at first, but it works really well for synching Mac OS / iOS Scrivener. Why don't give it a try?

Best,

Re: New To Writing and Scrivener

I usually just start to write in a single text document in the binder. As your story grows, so does the need to organise your material. I find, each project forces the way it wants to be organised in upon the writer, so to speak. Short chapters? Long chapters? Different points of view? Mountains of ...
