Re: Using the Compiler

Message continued from previous one. Delay due to preparations for Hurricane Sally. This is what the binder looks like. DarkLady_Compile03_2020-09.JPG This is where I set the indent in the text, Tools => Options => Editor. The slant A is grayed out in compile, and the text is not indented at the beg...

Re: Using the Compiler

I'm choosing to put this question in the thread with all the rest of my questions about the Compiler. Going back through this thread helped me find and correct several issues I was having, but things are still not quite correct. My Kindle died; had to get a new one, and while I was loading some of m...

Re: New Computer: Transferring Scrivener

The good news is that you have to go out of your way to download the beta, so if you just downloaded this on the new computer through the normal L&L links, you're probably have 1.9.16.0. The easiest thing you can do to check is, on the new computer, either look at the installed version under Co...

Re: New Computer: Transferring Scrivener

As mentioned by Devin, open the Scrivener Tutorial project on your new PC. Then load your preferences from the save file. (Tools => Options => General => Manage => Load Preferences) I don't see a way to export a template. Unless we're talking File => Save as Template? And what is saved when you do ...

Re: New Computer: Transferring Scrivener

If I am reading the issue correctly, you have your 'prefs' file saved in Version version 1.9.xx.x and wish to import your preferences into the Version 2.9.9.8. If so, simply select 'File - Options' from the menubar in version 2 or hit the F12 key, then select 'Manage - load options' from the bottom...

New Computer: Transferring Scrivener

So I have my new Win 10 computer. I have DL and installed Scrivener. I went to my older computer end exported the preferences (Tools => Options => General => Manage => Save Preferences). Now I come back to the new copy of Scrivener. I open it. There is no way to import the preferences, at least not ...

Re: Best Way to Transfer Scrivener Customizations?

AussieDoc, Thanks for the pointers -- and the graphic, showing exactly what I'm needing to be looking at is also helpful. Got my new machine ordered yesterday, a custom build so it will be a few weeks before I get it. And then I have to persuade Windows 10 Pro that I will do things the way I intend ...

Re: Best Way to Transfer Scrivener Customizations?

Thank you. I don't do betas. There is no "Options" under "File" in V1. "Options" is under "Tools." Neither "Import/Export" nor "Backup" has the option of backing up customizations, like formatting, dictionaries, Name Generator files, spelli...

Best Way to Transfer Scrivener Customizations?

I may have finally between the finances into shape so I can get a Windows 10 machine -- my Win 7 Pro is about 8 years old, and too slow for Win 10. I'm not looking forward to it, because my Win 7 Pro machine is set up the way *I* like to work, and it's going to take weeks to get it functioning. In a...

Re: Upgrade to .14; Scrivener no longer works

The latest update has fixed nothing. It still took me 3 reboot cycles before Scrivener would even run (OP: try this, it could work for you), and the pop up message about the license was still there. I have been in contact with support over all these months of problems, and I'm done troubleshooting ...

Re: Upgrade to .14; Scrivener no longer works

I did some poking around and found this website with a simple utility to download: https://smallestdotnet.com/ It's written by a well-known expert in the .NET world and the binary is code-signed. Download it, run it, and it will pop up a web page telling you what your most recent version of .NET is...

Re: Upgrade to .14; Scrivener no longer works

Worst case you could always try uninstalling .14 and reinstalling a prior version. https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/release-notes?os=Windows Be sure to save your preferences before doing so. Tools > Options > Manage > Save Preferences. There is no way to save your toolbar setup, so take...

Re: Upgrade to .14; Scrivener no longer works

There are several threads with troubleshooting advice. Let me see if I can sum up some of the common bits. 1) Did you install Scrivener with admin privileges? If not, uninstall and re-install with them. 2) Do you have Program Compatibility set on Scrivener if you're running on Windows 10? Some peop...

I've done so. The automated email I got back said to post in the Forum.
