Re: Spell check not working in projects?

I've been mulling over this, even since my last post above. For another piece of software that I use, that app has reached version 8 after a couple of decades in so doing becoming probably the most feature-packed add in its field. But incredibly complex to learn. Their recent version's focus has bee...

Re: Spell check not working in projects?

The above thread answered my problem, but I had to find it using a Google search - but why put users to such efforts? It can be anticipated that a user's first port of call to turn on spell-check would be to go to Preferences. And when that does not work, given that the Preferences do indeed contain...

Locating binder-items when the binder is closed or when its folders are closed

I refer to the sample outline in the Binder, where there are four folders, each having two country names. When all the Binder folders are expanded, when I search for, say, Canada, the highlighter in the binder takes me straight to the item. 1.jpg However, when the Binder's folders are collapsed (suc...

Re: Auto-numbering in real time, in the binder, outliner, scrivenings without needing to compile. Is that possible?

This isn't exactly what you're asking for, but it may help a little: you can have Outline mode automatically number items — it doesn't affect the title of the document, just shows the item's binder position as a consecutive number in that view. (The number does persist if you sort on any of the col...

Auto-numbering in real time, in the binder, outliner, scrivenings without needing to compile. Is that possible?

I realise it is possible to insert auto-number characters <$n> throughout a document which, when compiled, will all be converted into an auto-numbered sequence throughout the document, The limitation of the above feature is that I only can see the numbers in the compiled document. Specifically, I ca...

Thanks Amber. I think that approach should suffice for my needs.

Here's what it looks like using the above tip.

Can the Editor selectively display the content from a limited number of levels in the Binder?

In the attached screenshot example, my question is: whether it's possible for the editor to selectively display only certain levels from the Binder, i.e. not everything. e.g. for the editor to only display level 1 from the Binder, or only levels 1 and 2 from the Binder, and for the editor to hide th...

Re: Personal Request to Keith: if S3 not out, give public beta, or allow us into private beta

It's quite sad, really. I've been reduced to starting each day checking the literatureandlatte website - only to be jolted into the realisation I've seen the same homepage too many dozens of times that I could memorize it, and then exhibiting that last ounce of hope, ending each day in the same forl...

Re: Anything to share about Scrivener 3.0?

I just posted another blog post to keep people going in the meantime. :) Hopefully not too much longer now. This is disastrous news. The blog posts are meted out approximately every 10 days. This further blog post means, at a minimum, it's not going to happen for a further 10 days. Where is the res...

Personal Request to Keith: if S3 not out, give public beta, or allow us into private beta

Dear Keith, our benevolent dictator I'm one person who, in combination with others, make up the undeserving masses who didn't qualify for the private beta Scrivener 3 program, however, in our favour we have contributed over the years to hoist Scrivener onto its pedestal of the most popular writing a...

Re: Scrivener 3 - common file format with earlier versions?

Hi Amber I note what you have said above, but I came across the following article: http://www.inkitpub.com/2017/08/12/what-does-scrivener-3-0-mean-for-scrivener-for-ios/ It states: "It does not matter if you are using current versions of Scrivener (2.8.2.1 for Mac and 1.9.7 for Windows) or Scri...

Scrivener 3 - common file format with earlier versions?

I have a few Macs that are not on macOS Sierra for various reasons - some cannot run the latest OS. Hence, I am hoping Scrivener 3.0 can create files that are usable by earlier versions of Scrivener. Will that be the case? Or is it that once a file is converted, it will be un-readable by earlier ver...

Some files sync, but others don't

Background: I've gone through the official youtube video, "Scrivener for iOS - Sync Demonstration", and gotten syncing working ... sort of. The problem is that the .scriv file created on the Mac seems to sync nicely. But the .scriv file, created in iPad, does not. Here's what I do. (i) I m...

Re: Suggestion: hide Outliner, or make Outliner less crammed

p/s I just upgraded to version 2.7, and all my dissatisfaction about the Outliner has been addressed by the new layout. I'm actually quite thrilled about it -- so I see no need to act on suggestion above. :D

Suggestion: hide Outliner, or make Outliner less crammed

I use the Binder as my main conceptualisation area. Why? Visually, the Binder's hierarchical structure is easier to visualise, there seems more space between the lines, the binder items aren't so scrunched up compared to the log-jam of the Outliner. Hence, it's a problem for me that I cannot hide th...
