Sixteen percent App Store tax in AU

The price in the AU store is $AUD30.99. But the market quoted exchange rate for $US19.99 is $26.73. A 15.9% premium.
Five percent or so might be understandable (given this is a variable rate) but once again the Apple App Store gouges. Quel surprise!

Hmm... Four days later and "Check for Updates" is still reporting that I have the latest version for Mac: 2.7

A problem with Sparkle? Download directly?

Re: Editing Scrivener 'sync' files on iPad, laptops

:D Your palaeontology is perfect.Well done! By the way: I take your point, too, about Sublime Text. I see it's going to V3 soon. Since TextMate theme files (and patterns?) can be used in Sublime, it maybe time to look at it again. By the way (bis): Speaking of 3's... if you have any influence with K...

Re: Editing Scrivener 'sync' files on iPad, laptops

Thank you AmberV (Ioa), Of course, it doesn't matter what editor you use, if it gets the job done. If I'd been able to devise syntax coloring for Scrivener text files in BBEdit's so-called "codeless language modules" I would have done so. And then, there is no end of disputing over text ed...

Editing Scrivener 'sync' files on iPad, laptops

If you like to edit your Scrivener files on another platform such as your iPad, I may have something that will help. I've made some 'bundles' and themes for the TextMate editor (OSX) and the Textastic editor on the iPad that improve the display of inline annotations, comments and block-quotes synced...

Re: Page number placeholder in (inline) endnotes

Thank you Amber. I had not realised until just now that the <$p> placeholder was linked to the documents at the time of the TOC Copy and Paste action. Somehow, I had assumed, this was done at compile time, just as the <$title> placeholder is filled in at compile time (I know this must be the case be...

Page number placeholder in (inline) endnotes

I'd like to insert a page number into the text of an inline footnote/endnote. I would like to eliminate the superscripts in the compiled (for DOCX) version of the main text but leave page references in the endnotes. An endnote would look like this: Page 124 : " ...a handbag ?" Lady Brackne...

Non-modal Layouts dialog

Hi, A very small request. I use the keyboard as much as possible. I'd prefer not to have to dismiss the layouts window after I've selected a layout [CMD+SHIFT+)]. I know I can do that with CMD+W, but I'm not sure why the layouts window re-presents itself at all after my chosen layout is implemented....

Draft in RTF save to Markdown (pls. ignore...)

I have decided to use Scrivener (RTF) in combination with an OSX command-line utility that converts RTF (and a variety of other formats: Webarchive, ODT, Doc, DocX) to Markdown to take advantage of the best of Scrivener and preserve the flexibility and robustness of a plain text format. Um... Pleas...

Re: I bought Ulysses III but I'm not going to use it

My biggest beef with U-III (1.0) is that it won't edit imported marked-up text. In other words, it BREAKS the real liberation of simple text-mark-up... that it should be readily editable in a variety of text editors. U-III simply refuses to recognize any marked-up text that you import (by importing...

I bought Ulysses III but I'm not going to use it

As at Version 1.0, U-III is just another notes editor. Like most (all?) App Store apps these days, it's made for editing documents that it alone created although it does seem to export reasonably standard markdown docs (but with only a subset of markdown markup). It does drag-n-drop mages and it doe...

Your iPhone as a movie player

This (opens in iTunes) is not a latte... but it's an indulgence, all the same. An invitation to waste time, in case you feel your drafting has been a bit too diligent. StreamToMe selects and streams videos in the most common formats from your Mac to your iPhone over wifi. Replace text in titles

Hi Keith, A quick search does not show this mentioned already: apologies if it's a chestnut. Project replace... does not find/replace text in the title of each entry (the title seen in the LH navigation panel, at the top of the main edit window, in the synopsis etc). It would be nice to have this be...

Re: Auto-number using <$sn> for sections of chapters

Okay, how is the compiler supposed to know that <$sn> is reset by the 'chap' stream? Sometimes it is right next to the chapter, other times it is all by itself. Yes, you are using it always in proximity, but a lot of people would not. In a technical paper it is ordinary to have 1.2.1 numbering. But...
