Trying to convince my wife to use Scrivener over Word

Hi, (I hope this is in the right subforum, if not feel free to move it) About half a year a go I discovered Scrivener and immediately saw the strength and potential of it. And although I don't need much use of it myself, I purchased it for my wife who is writing her PhD dissertation in the humanitie...

Re: HTML Question

If you don't like the long URLs, you could shorten them using a service such as tinyurl.

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

Thanks again guys, I get it now :)

I think the confusion for me also comes from the naming of the menu items: External Sync vs BackUp vs Open/Save.

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

You mean this post: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5295#p43290 ? There it says at the bottom: Use of Scrivener with network synchronised folders and mountable drives is not recommended and you do so at your own risk. The recommended use is to use Scrivener's back-up ...

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

The other part I don't get is how to get a file from DB onto another Mac. [...] Being especially careful to follow the instructions in the first post of this thread, simply open the project directly from your dropbox folder. So just to make sure I understand, just plain open and save from/to my DB ...

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

I'm confused. Despite the big warning in the first post, not to use External sync to save to Dropbox, many users seem to do so anyway? The other part I don't get is how to get a file from DB onto another Mac. Finding the right version on DB, dragging it to the desktop, then unzipping it, (as describ...

Re: AppleScript: what do you want to see in the Scrivener Suite?

Is the following possible with Applescript: 1. Save the project 2. Make back up to local backup drive (external) 3. Sync with Dropbox 4. Close the project. This would be a great script to execute when I'm done writing on my iMac, leave, and maybe work on it later on my MacBook. If this is not possib...

Re: Bookends vs Sente (it's not redundant)

Also looking at Bookends, and got it with the MU bundle. It indeed looks a bit clunky and non-OSX like, I guess that's because it is written in RealBasic (didn't know that stll existed). There was some mention on their forum about moving to Cocoa (the native OS X programming language), but no timeli...
