Re: Thank you developers for all you are doing for a 1 time purchase price!

Can I just also add my profoundest thanks for the way this company deals with its customers and in developing new versions. I am most impressed and thankful. I rarely look at these forums and I have not been aware of some of the frustration others have at the amount of time it has been taking to dev...

Re: Sync to Chromebook Using Sync to External Folder - Advice?

AFAIK your workflow should be fine. One pitfall I found is that iOS sync and folder sync don't play well together—avoid using iOS Scrivener and you should be fine. EDIT: The step back to the Mac would be external folder sync rather than import. Thank you very much. That is exactly what I needed to ...

Sync to Chromebook Using Sync to External Folder - Advice?

Before I mess things up all by myself I thought I'd ask for thoughts about what I want to do. I will be doing some travel with a Chromebook that of course does not have the ability to run Scrivener. Years ago I used to sync Scrivener using Sync To External Folder through Dropbox when working on an A...

Re: Managing long form journalistic notes in Scrivener for Non-Fiction

Thank you Katherine, That will work nicely. I was too far into the weeds to see that there was a simpler way to do it And, I suspect that for the first time after years of using Scrivener that I will have a good use for the corkboard which seems like it would lend itself well to the organization of ...

Managing long form journalistic notes in Scrivener for Non-Fiction

I am a long time Scrivener user in MacOS, IOS, and Windows, but until now it has been strictly for Fiction. I now have a contract for a non-fiction book dealing with journalism, relief workers, and war zones spanning decades. I have good and detailed notes taken over the years but I am at a loss as ...

Mobile Data Binder Syncing Error - Scriv won't open

First off, I believe the root cause of my problem was some silly messing around with the Dropbox location on my Mac and no fault of Scrivener. I returned the location to its original position and at no time had I run any version of Scrivener during either process, but perhaps something got messed up...

Sync to External Folder - Tremendous

I have recently purchased Scrivener for the Mac (and a MacPro to go with it -- seriously, I did ) to go with my Scrivener for Windows on my other machines and I have been astounded to discover the Sync to External Folder menu command. I had no idea it existed. Although I have been sync'ng my Windows...

Re: Scriv importing - without hard returns

Try selecting the document in the binder and choosing Documents > Convert > Formatting to Default Text Style to apply the default settings from your Editor options. Thank you so much. In following your suggestion I discovered that a couple of days ago I had changed my default zoom levels and margin...

Scriv importing - without hard returns

I have tried researching this issue in the manual, on-line, and in Scrivener for Dummies but I can't figure it out. When I export a document as RTF to be able to work on it in Word (to run a couple of grammar addins) I get as expected in Word, the same font size etc as the original, with soft-return...

Re: Open last Scapple file

This isn't a direct answer to your question because I have no idea why Scapple doesn't offer to open the most recent but there is a workaround. Double-click on the .SCAP file in the folder where Scapple saves your files and the program will open it. If it is something you use a lot you can make a de...

Re: Working on Files Outside of Scrivener?

Thank you so much. Either or both of those options will do nicely for me. I fully accept that I have been playing with fire for the last year or so and you are mostly likely correct that I have been lucky. I do not recommend that anyone reading this should try it for themselves without being aware o...

Working on Files Outside of Scrivener?

I frequently work on manuscript files created by Scrivener and sync'd into Dropbox using an Android tablet to edit the core Scrivener created RTF files. This has worked perfectly for many single file (no chapters) non-fiction articles. One RTF file in Scrivener for the whole article. Android created...

Re: I think Scapple has become part of my workflow

I am so very, very impressed with Scapple and I am sorry I delayed so long in trying it out. I saw mention of the beta on a blog this morning and having nothing better to do than the work I should have been doing I decided to install it. If I could buy it today I would. I have rarely been so impress...

Re: System Wide Scratch Pad shortcut?

If this isn't working for you, it's likely a shortcut conflict from either the specific program where it's not working or from another global shortcut key you have set up, e.g. from a program like AutoHotKey that works across applications. Thank you for going to the trouble of explaining that. I cl...

Re: Safe to Rename the Scrivx file?

If I remember right, the reason we went with project.scrivx instead of myfoldername.scrivx is that there was confusion over what to double-click on to open the project in the early public beta. Calling it 'project.scrivx' pretty much eradicated that problem (though with the unfortunate side-effect ...
