Compiling Mulitple Files into Multiple Files

I am close to finishing a book project and found out that the publisher wants the final manuscript submitted as separate files for each chapter. I have used a fair amount of placeholder tags throughout the text, so I want to take advantage of the compile features. Which means, I have to either run t...

Re: Best bibliography tool to use with Scrivener?

With all due respect to the previous poster, I cannot imagine trying to write a dissertation without such software. I did a Master's thesis before the advent of this type of software and doing footnotes by hand was a painful process. Waiting to the end of the process to do footnotes is a recipe for ...

Re: Scrivener for PhD thesis

It is instructive to see the many different usage patterns for Scrivener. I treated my PhD thesis as a single project. I wrote each chapter in a series of smaller sections which I copied over to Word to test formatting of footnotes (Endnote) and to see the text in a different context. I would copy a...

Re: Scrivener for iPad?

Keith, Another strong request is the ability for a Scrivener for iPad to respect footnotes. I am in the throes of completing a PhD thesis and I am at the stage where I do a lot of editing of completed chapters, which are filled with footnotes. The iPad is ideal for going off to a quiet corner somewh...

Scrivener, Footnotes, and an iPad

No this is not yet another plea for an iPad version of Scrivener. I would like to find some way of integrating a workflow of writing my thesis in Scrivener, moving the drafts to my iPad, editing there, and moving the results back to Scrivener, all without losing my footnote references. I am working ...

Re: How big is your Scrivener project?

Karl, I am about half way through writing my PhD thesis and my Scrivener file is 99 MB. This includes research files, which are all most entirely .rtf, a few photos, drafts of the chapters, and planning documents. I typically create a first draft of a chapter by writing individual sections as separa...

Re: iPad Compatibility

Dear Keith, I have another perspective on iPad compatibility. I agree that I would not use the iPad for composing but I would very much like to have more powerful capabilities for editing. I am a PhD student and I use the iPad primarily for research when I have to travel to the local archives. I als...
