Re: problems with <$hn> in compile with v1.9.7.0

I managed to resolve this today. the secret appears to be in the "compile as is" flag against each file/folder. Unchecked that and the hierarchical numbering appears like magic...

problems with <$hn> in compile with v1.9.7.0

I recently upgraded to 1.9.7, and this week I have to create a document with hierarchical numbering... So, I choose compile, set the prefix field for each entry to have <$hn> the compile screen shows the formatting with 1 title OR 1.2 title OR 1.2.3 title. When I select compile: preview or word docu...

Re: Cannot Import Word XP

It looks to me like you have a relatively new PC with a trial version of office 2010 "installed". MS have tricked it out so that if you touch a file that windows recognises as a word or excel format, it tries to install MS Office. That happened to my wife, and the d**n thing would not unin...

Re: 1.7.1.0 Paste issue

Yes, highlighting the text and selecting Remove Highlighting also works. Luckily I don't use highlighting in my text.

Since it posts leanly into word, it suggests Word is processing the Clipboard contents differently from Scrivener. Hopefully this will make it into your bug list?

thanks

Re: 1.7.1.0 Paste issue

The kludge/work around is to past into word (which ever version is running) first, then select the text in word, and copy this. This copy can be pasted cleanly into Scrivener.

Re: 1.7.1.0 Paste issue

Thank you for your feedback. Sadly, import of docx doesn't work. 1. On the machine with no windows 2010 license, scrivener imports gibberish. Probably the raw docx file, which it cannot understand. 2. On the machine with the 2010 license, it tries to install office 2007, fails, and the import file i...

1.7.1.0 Paste issue

I just upgraded from 1.6.1 to 1.7.1, and now I'm getting a paste issue where anything pasted from Softmaker Office is black letters on black background. Doing the same in 1.6.1.0 behaves normally. Your clipboard tool gives this as the output of my paste command: Formats: application/x-qt-windows-mim...

Re: Edit Scriv projects on my tablet?

Just out of interest, I regularly export parts of my manuscript from scrivener using the compile function. I transfer them to my Nexus 7 (you can use dropbox, or an app like File Expert which can run an FTP server). Once there I edit the RTF using a paid work processor Softmaker Office. It's in the ...

Compile To rtf produces strange paragraph right indent

I use compile to export sections of my scrivener manuscript for editing on Android. One thing I've noticed is that the exported file has paragraphs with a negative right indent, which makes the text extend beyond the right hand margin. It's noticable in word. This causes an issue on my android devic...

Re: 1.5.7 - No way to get Scrivener to work

Hi Lilith, If the problem is windows drivers, then a fresh install will probably result in the same situation once windows downloads its updates again. I would suggest switching windows updates to "notify but do not download". At that point, you will get a notification when the updates are...

clean install of 1.5.7 won't register

I have 1.5.7 running happily on 2 XP machines. The other week, I inherited an old win 7 laptop (32 bit, 2G memory), and decided to install scrivener there. It works fine, but doesn't register. It claims I have no internet connection, which is false. There's a small home network, most machines connec...

Re: Version Control and Doc Compare

I personally use GIT version control software to make versions of all the files in the scrivener project directory. That allows me to see the history of changes over time. It also allows for an external diff tool. For that I use BeyondCompare , which makes a sensible diff between RTF files - it unde...

Re: Change default storage to HTML, XML or DocBook

I think many of us these days work on different devices, be it laptops, pda, iphones, and tablets. Any format that is common to all of these (and windows, android, iOS) would do the job. Of course, different platforms support different versions, so there is the issue of finding a common demonenator ...

Re: Windows CE

Win CE runs on the ARM processor, not Intel, and they are not compatible. Don't waste your time. I'm not sure whether there are any plans for a scrivener for windows 8 RT (the win8 version of winCE). My Ipaq is being retired, it's an obsolete OS, no one is developing for it. I can still write on it ...
