Using Scrivener to Create HTML Files

Hi there I have a project where I need to create a set of flat HTML files - no fancy formatting, just text (these will be used as help topics for a web site). I need to create one HTML file for each topic and had hoped that I might be able to use Scrivener and then export to HTML. I've been experime...

Re: Using Scrivener to Write a User Manual

Thanks Matt - I had a feeling that the 'M' word would come into things! The project file is a great start point though so I'll take a look :)

Using Scrivener to Write a User Manual

Hi All I've been using Scrivener in a very basic way since almost the very beginning - either for creative projects or for general notes and research. As a technical writer, I've never used it 'in anger' for a work project until the last couple of months, when I had to manage a LOT of help articles ...

Quick Chronosync Question

When using the latest version of Chronosync for bidirectional synchronization, there is an option to 'dissect packages'.

Can anyone advise if this option should be switched on for syncing Scrivener projects?

Thanks :)

I jumped in with both feet and installed Leopard on Friday. Yes, it looks nice - I love the new Finder experience, but I had a pig of a time with the installation on my iMac and, judging from the Apple Support forums, so did many others. With hindsight, I wouldn't be so quick to install a new OS nex...

Printable Corkboard?

I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned; I haven't kept up with the wish list for a while, since Scrivener is doing all that I need. However, I found myself doing something last night and thinking 'it would be great if I could do this automatically', so here I am. It's not a big deal, just a 't...

I would love to know how long it takes to sync to the iDisk using this method?

Last time I tried to copy Scrivener files (using a straightforward copy, admittedly) it was painfully slow and so I abandoned the idea, and my iDisk! Maybe I missed a trick....

Working from an external drive

Since back in the day when Word used to crash at the very sniff of a network drive, I have always worked on files locally, irrespective of which application I used. However, I'm just wondering if anyone else stores their Scrivener projects on an external drive, and works from that drive, rather than...

True enough, though in my (many!) experiments, I found that just as many clients tend to strip out embedded images and supply them as annoying attachments. At least the HTML route provides a friendly message, advising the image is blocked so users can click once to download. It's all a bit of a mine...

Spinningdoc - I may be wrong (I don't have my Mac to check) but I _think_ you can specify whether to put a signature above or below text in Mail. Maybe my HTML solution would work for you, if your placed your signature at the top. That's just off the top of my head - I haven't tried it :-)

To be honest, I'm not 'sure' about anything; I've been reading around the subject all day and my brain is now very fuddled! I did try setting the encoding to UniCode but it didn't help - though I'm no expert and I don't really understand all the terminology and what's going on behind the scenes. How...

Thanks everyone, at least I know it's not me being dim (this time...). I've been testing different variations for hours and can certainly replicate the problem, having dusted off my old Windows PC. Incredibly, it seems that I'm going to have to use that for 'serious' emails. Thanks again to all :-)

Perhaps it's a general thing rather than a Mail thing. I've been trying to create an email signature which includes a small image (company logo). It looks fine when I send a test to myself, but when I sent to a friend on a Windows Outlook client (which I imagine most of my recipients will be on), th...

Recommended Email Client for Mac?

I've been tearing my hair out for a couple of days, and then it struck me that fellow Scriveners may have some good advice :-) I'm a _relatively_ new Mac user, and have stuck with the default Apple Mail for my email. However, now that I'm starting to use it in anger, I'm hitting a few frustrations a...

Wish you were here?

So as summer starts to call and thoughts turn to travel, where will you be taking Scrivener this year? I'm currently spending a few days in Paris for some rest and writing. Sitting in a cafe by the Louvre, Scrivener is fired up and I have to write 500 words before I can go wandering. Bliss! But curs...
