Re: Here's Affinity Publisher, an inexpensive app to make your book beautiful

I assume you meant Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. :D Yeah, I do have Adobe on my mind. I have been using InDesign since CS3. In recent years I have been 'not happy' with Adobe. Here's a good review of Affinity Publisher, and one that should give you a good idea how handy it might be for doin...

Re: I would like to retrieve the previous version of a doc that I made changes to.

There are several possibilities for recovering lost files. —If you're using Dropbox to synch or store Scrivener files, it saves deleted files online. Just go to Dropbox.com, click on "My Files" and then on "Show deleted files." If you're using the free version of Dropbox, it only...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts for jumping to next sentence/selecting sentence

Scrivener just uses the standard macOS bindings here, and sadly Apple doesn't provide a next/previous sentence binding. I doubt we have a shortcut available that would work for it, either. Having adopted a 2018 iPad as my primary on-the-go writing tool, I lament that same lack when using a keyboard...

Possible uses for the Apple Pencil

I recently picked up a 2018 iPad to serve as a MacBook replacement. For that it's proved so marvelous, I'm wondering if there'd be a way for Scrivener for iOS to take advantage of the Apple Pencil for those who own that Pencil-ready iPad or an iPad Pro. Unfortunately, I've yet to get an Apple Pencil...

Re: Google announcement - Building Android and IOS apps in one hit

From personal code experience, all-in-one/cross platform development programs have a history of not generating optimised code for any/either platform. How true! I've been using computers long enough to remember the Word for Mac 6.0 fiasco where Microsoft tried to save development costs by cross-com...

Here's Affinity Publisher, an inexpensive app to make your book beautiful

I've not been commenting on Literature and Latte recently, but when I did I sometimes suggested that authors look into using InDesign to format their Scrivener-written books for publication. It's ability to handle complex formatting and create attractive books is impressive. I've strayed away from t...

Re: Apple Pencil experiences with iOS Scrivener or other text editing apps?

The pencil is fantastic for many things but not for using with Scrivener, as I see it. I just got the 2018 iPad and plan to get the Apple Pencil when I can find it at a decent discount. I suspect that you are right that the Pencil won't be much help for writing in Scrivener. That is too typewriter ...

Re: iPad 2018 or iPad Pro 10.5" ?

I added the Zagg rugged case to protect against the inevitable knocks and drops common to air travel and, again, am quite pleased with this accessory I've got that same Zagg Rugged Folio case and find it quite handy with my 2018 iPad. The keyboard is lighted, which helps in darker situations. It ha...

Re: Free Homes for Writers

Publishers Weekly just released an article about those once-free homes for writers in Detroit. Now they are to be rent-free. Beginning in 2017, writers who apply to live in one of the nonprofit's renovated houses will have the option to stay there rent-free for as long as they wish, but they will no...

MacOS Sierra & Dropbox Issues

Dropbox and the just-released Mac OS update, Sierra, may not play well together. Here are Dropbox's suggestions: https://blogs.dropbox.com/dropbox/2016/09/macos-sierra/ The issue seems to be that synching to two cloud services creates problems. You must use one or the other not both. The posting als...

Dropbox security issue

I've checked and what he says is right. Dropbox has taken for itself the ability "to control [my] computer." I quote from the first linked article below: No, I can assure you that your memory isn’t faulty. You don’t remember doing that because Dropbox never presented this dialog to you, as...
