Re: Hiding the binder header title

I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time ...) but I don't think it's possible to hide the binder header in that way.

(Of course, you can hide the entire binder, but that's different.)

Re: Backup Folder - File couldn't be opened

What's showing as your Backup location? Mine is /Users/sam/Library/Application Support/Scrivener/Backups I think that's simply the default. If I wanted to change that, I'd hit the CHOOSE button, which would take me out into the file system and let me pick a location. Are you trying to 'open backup f...

Re: Tutorial for v2.7

Not a biggie but this might be the place to mention that the 2.7 Manual (page 270) refers to the now removed 'Auto Generate Synopsis' button.

Re: Word Count: Of Cursor Position

On the Mac (and maybe on Windows, too?) you can select a chunk of text and get an immediate word count displayed at the bottom of the editor. Not exactly what you're requesting, but kinda close?

Re: Future of Scrivener?

Late to the debate on this one (but that's never stopped me chipping in with my two penny worth ...) Re the learning curve - as others have said, it's very simple to get started with Scrivener and learn the more advanced stuff if and when you need it (no different from any other software, really). B...

Re: Auto-generate synopsis icon not present in Inspector

Brilliant - Thanks, Keith, for the prompt response. Great support, as always. I'm finding that copy/pasting selected text into the synopsis area works just fine. If there had been no button to start with, I can't imagine anyone would feel the need to ask for one, so yes, removing it is no big deal i...

Re: header with section title & auto number

This is probably a daft question but are you sure you don't have a typo in the code you're using (there's a typo in the code that you've posted -$sectiontilte instead of $sectiontitle)

That probably isn't the answer, but just checking.

Re: Auto-generate synopsis icon not present in Inspector

Odd - I came to the forum, looking for help on exactly the same problem - and your post was the first thing I saw. I'm sure I've used the auto-complete button before but it's not there now. (Like you say, it's there via the menus, but according to the manual that method uses the first few lines of y...

Re: Help with spellcheck.

Briar, one the many things I love about Scrivener - apart from the fact that it’s the best piece of software anyone ever created :) - is the quality of help you can get from people on the forums. Your post being a perfect example. Ridiculously helpful. Many Thanks. Thanks, too, to se1961 for asking ...

Re: Getting Rid of Page #s in End Matter when Compiling to Word

Probably too late to help you - given that this was three months ago - but I've recently been trying to sort out exactly the same problem, and offer this in case it helps anyone else doing a search. What worked for me ... in COMPILE settings, under PAGE SETTINGS, check the 'no header or footer on si...

Thanks, reepicheep.
Your suggestions make a lot of sense.
Must admit, mastering the Compile function is very much a work in progress for me. :D

Re: Importing a novel from word

To get your chapters separated: Start a new Scrivener project (using the BLANK template). Copy and paste your entire novel into the ‘untitled’ document within the draft folder. Put your cursor at the end of the first chapter. Do: DOCUMENTS >> SPLIT >> AT SELECTION Scrivener splits your document into...

Can I link to the generated Table of Contents?

When I compile my document for .mobi, Scrivener gives me a Table of Contents.
That all works fine.

Question: is it possible to somehow include a link in my document to that Table of Contents (given that at the time of inserting the link, said Table of Contents doesn't yet exist)?
