This is a very good topic. I've been forced to use a genealogy app lying around to help me make certain all my characters re the rights ages for marriages, births, etc. Andreas' idea is very good and this is how I would implement it. First, I would not tie the index cards to times. I think that woul...

Re: Alternative Scrivener Icon

Hi, People seem to really like the current icon: I, however, don't. There's no accounting for taste :) Anyway, I find it hard to think of the yin yang thing as the thing I write with, so I made a new icon for Scrivener from a picture of an old typewriter. The forum would not let me upload a .icns f...

Where do I change the colour of the outlier selection?

Help! I've lost where to change the colour that makes the nice round rectangle to highlight the selected text in outliner mode. It must be possible as mine is salmon coloured and the screen-shots are all blue like here: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/screens5.html But I can't find it anywhere...

Good I asked about this, as I didn't know about 3rd party apps. TextExpander looks good, but I decided to try out Typinator first. (http://www.ergonis.com/products/typinator/faq.html) Reading a couple of reviews makes it look like Typinator is friendlier to other languages besides English. Cheers, D...

Is there any auto-replace in Scrivener?

I wonder if there is anything like Word's auto-replace function in spelling for Scrivener? I realise if there isn't it may be due to OS X textedit reader, so this is not a feature request. But if it exists and I just am looking in the wrong places, I'd like to know where it is! For example, I want t...

Exporting meta-data - where is word count?

Basically, I'm looking for a way to export all my draft and get a file that shows just the titles and meta-data for me chapters. So far, so good. But i need help - I don't know where to go to set preferences for what meta data is exported. I'd like to see just title, synopsis and word count. Then I'...

"Pre-cursor" word count in addition to overall wor

Hi Kevin, would it be easy for you to stick in a "pre-cursor" word count on the line where you have the "Words: XXX Chars: XXX"? For me it is always nice to know where in my text I am editing and I miss this feature. Do you know what I mean? MS Word has this and I found it very h...

Thanks, I downloaded it and it looks great!

It's even better than I remember from a few weeks ago.

Definitely on my "buy" list.

It's been a while since anyone posted to this topic - I suppose you've got the latest Leopard seed by now though (I hope!) My question is when will Scrivener be available for Leopard, given it smells like the cat is close? My trial expired just as a few other more immediate expenses piled up, but I ...

Thanks for the tips. Bookends looks great, but at that price it is certainly overkill for me. Almost none of my citations will come from the internet as I'll be getting them from musty old libraries in Ukraine and Russia where technology is not much past filing card indexes, I'm afraid. I'm just loo...

Organizing bibliographies

First - wow! I've been peeking at the Scriverner site for some time, but did not have Tiger. I upgraded to just yesterday and today decided Scrivener was once programme I wanted to check out. Second - wow! (yeah, twice.) Nice program. I'll give it a good workover, but I'm willing to bet I'll be shel...
